Nah mate, gotta disagree... How he returns to training, how fit he is, how he slots in with the rest of the team... Those are massive, and can't be guaged by a video of him playing at the END of the previous season.

Besides which, they've nothing much to lose and potentially loads to gain by playing the patient game. They already have the asset, we're the ones who want him...

My recollection was that the deal went to the very last minute because we were leveraging to get one added but they wouldn't budge and we blinked first. Nature of negotiation that you never get everything you want, unless you've got a real position of strength somehow and we didn't...

Could be this but i still find it strange why Norwich would fight tooth n nail to not add a buy out clause on a player they dont rate in the slightest rotting on the bench for them. If true, they obviously made the correct call.

Not really! They knew he'd play for us, and that'd put him in a serious window of visibility. If he succeeded, they get what they have now, which is a far greater valued asset to play/sell, if he was ok they probably still sell him to us for around what we asked the clause to be, if he fails they ship him/release him and get him off their books... It was a gamble on their part, for sure, but not a big one...

Wouldnt imagine there was any fight from their side as they hold all the power. In not inserting a buy out clause they would stand to gain if he had a good loan spell as his value would increase.

Exactly the same for our Mikey Johnstone situation. Like Idah, there was always talent there and now we might get a decent fee as he has shown well whilst at WBA.

Genuine question. Celtic are a massive club but do you think that Idah and Bernardo are less keen to come after going to all the wee * grounds in Scotland? There’s non league teams in England with better set ups than some in our top flight.

I doubt that has anything to do with it. Both seem keen/interested in coming. If it does not happen in either or both cases I don't see that as having been a leading driver at all.

Some will disagree but if he will push for the move and Rodgers wants him he's worth the wait. I genuinely believe that. I'd rather wait and have people who love it here and people the manager wants.

Celtic have made an approach to sign Adam Idah from Norwich City on a permanent basis this summer.

The striker joined Brendan Rodgers' side on loan in the winter window and scored nine goals in 19 games - including their Scottish Cup final winner against Rangers - as Celtic added to their Premiership title success.

Sky Sports News revealed in January there was no option-to-buy clause in the loan deal, but, speaking in May, Rodgers made it clear he was keen to keep the 23-year-old at the club this summer.

He's been the real catalyst for us," said Rodgers after their Scottish Cup final win. "I knew what I was getting, he's fast and dynamic and has strength.

"What he's shown since coming in is he is a goalscorer. Great headers, great movement in the box.

He's been absolutely immense for us and he's clearly someone I would like to do something with."

Only Celtic would wait a month to approach for a player they've probably known wanted to sign for us all along.

Decent start let's get it done and another 4 or 5 in the door.

Given how long it's taken for us to put an offer in, you'd like to think we know what they want and we're paying it. No fannying about haggling over a a few thousand quid for weeks on end.
