MARK TRAVERS could be on his way out of Bournemouth this summer.

But the Premier League club is looking for a staggering £10million for his signature which could scare off suitors such as Celtic and Crystal Palace.

Travers played in four out of the Cherries’ last five games of the campaign, keeping clean sheets in the wins over Brighton and Wolves.

But, if that raised hopes of him being the no 1 for next season, they are set to be dashed.

Boss Andoni Iraola is looking to bring in a keeper and is willing to let the Ireland international go at the right price to make room for the new arrival.

Brendan Rodgers needs a new first-choice keeper following the retirement of ex-England star Joe Hart.

Rodgers is fan of Travers’ international rival Caoimhím Kellleher who has made no secret of the fact that his future is likely to lie away from Liverpool where he has been unable to dislodge Alisson.

But the Cork man is expected to command a fee in excess of £15m and Travers had been looked at as a more affordable and realistic option.

However, unless Bournemouth are willing to lower their valuation, the eight-figure sum is likely to push Travers beyond their reach as well.

Sam Johnstone and Dean Henderson split goalkeeping duties almost equally for Palace last season with Oliver Glasner – who took over in February – keen to freshen things up in that position

But the London club is also likely to baulk at that fee for a player who has relatively limited top-flight experience.

Travers joined Bournemouth from Shamrock Rovers in July 2016 and got his first taste of senior football the following year in a loan spell at Weymouth, where he scored on his debut.

His Premier League debut came in May 2019, becoming the first teenager goalkeeper to start in the Premier League since Hart in 2006.

But it was only in their Championship-winning 2021-22 campaign that he established himself as first-choice keeper at the club

He started their first four Premier League games the following season but was axed following a 9-0 defeat to Liverpool after which Scott Parker was sacked.

He played a further eight league games before the end of that campaign but played second fiddle to Neto, prompting a loan move to Stoke City last August.

That was supposed to be for the duration of the season and had made a good impression before being recalled by Bournemouth when Neto was sidelined.

But, until April, his only first-team action came in the FA Cup, and was unable to play in the Carabao Cup as he had already lined out in the competition for Stoke

Travers knows he needs to be playing regularly to have any chance of establishing himself as Ireland’s no 1, having collected just four caps since his debut against New Zealand in September 2019.

Nobody is paying £10m for Mark Travers, he's a solid keeper but no PL team is investing that in a second or third choice keeper.

I know it isn't seen as a good metric for accuracy, but I happen to believe Transfermarket isn't too far away when it comes to market evaluation.

For instance, they value CCV at 14m, but then again they value Scott Mckenna at 9m. So usually about 2m on either side of the inaccuracy scale.

They value this guy at 3.5m. euros.

So let's say, for arguments sake, theyre undervaluing him, would 5m be fair? So the question is, where the * are they getting the other 5m from? Especially for a player they seem to want off their books.

This is the issue. You pay top dollar for bog standard players down south. We shouldn't be anywhere near the * English market. There's value to be found with youth players, certainly. But not for what we're after, and certainly not for keepers.

10m for this guy? 25m for Keller? That league is off it's * rocker.

And if we were, I’d take it to Turkey for Livaković or Çakir.

Sad times when we would need to pay £10m for someone I've literally never heard of down south and Bournemouths second choice.

He is actually a decent keeper but there is zero chance we are paying anything even close to 10m for him and in fairness I don't see Bournemouth getting that kind of fee for him even with the crazy prices in the epl.

We should never be in market for EPL players still under contract - unless it's a loan to buy or a absolute bargain.
It's like trying to do the food shop in Harrods and looking for Lidl prices. Ain't going to happen.
