I think he has done ok, but I wasn’t fussed for signing him. However, the way McGregor spoke about him, I’d take him now. Players know when they see someone good, and McGregor has trained and played with him all season. If he feels we should sign him, then go for it. Because I’d trust McGregor over our scouts to find someone else.

Our scouts who found Bernardo, ironically.

Or it could have been Helena Costa who recommended him. Who also advised us to sign Jota.

But if you insist it was our scouts, we could talk about their overall signings last summer if you like?

Oh aye I forgot, it's only the 'duds' that our scouts find, all the good players we sign are down to people outside the club. My bad.

Was Jota recommended by a former Celtic scout who was at Benfica in Helena Costa? Yes. Is it outwith the realms of possibility that happened with Bernardo given he come from the same team? No. For what’s it’s worth, Bernardo hasn’t been great by the way. After what McGregor said about him though, I’d be happy to get him. I wouldn’t lose sleep if he isn’t here next season though.

Our scouts did manage to find plenty duds last summer though, that’s a certainty.

Oh so it was a former scout who recommended Jota? Lawwell must have sacked him for being good at his job then, no doubt. Why have good scouts when you can have * ones after all.

Think you’ll find Helena Costa is a woman. It was her that recommended Jota though aye. Years previously actually. You carry on though.

It must have just been a coincidence that Lawwell’s son was the best candidate available for the role as head of scouting and recruitment for us.

Thought that Joe Dudgeon had that position rather than Mark Lawwell?

What worries me most about our recruitment is the complete disconnect between what the manager wanted and what the recruitment department provided. I imagine that guys like Lagerbielke and Holm probably aren't duds and will probably be decent players in a different team; but it's pretty clear that Rodgers didn't want them.

Dudgeon was first team scout. Lawwell was head of recruitment.

If we can get him for around £4m/£4.5m I'd take him could be a valuable asset to the club. I think he see's the value at being at a club like Celtic he has passion. If we're being honest we've wasted the same on much worse players.

Wasn't aware of Helena previously, don't know how I missed her name. Apologies to the woman for my ignorance.

Got a bit of everything. Going to be a belter of a player when he has more experience behind him. Can tackle, carry the ball, win headers, hit a dig. Great all round midfielder who we'll probably regret missing out on, if we do.

"All round" are the first words that come to my mind when I think of him too. He's not really amazing at anything; but he's pretty solid at everything. That and his awareness make him a really good player in my view. I really like him, I think he makes players around him play better.
