Believing that it is possible to stay in the championship race with Red Star until the end of the season, the management of Partizan made a major decision in the winter transfer window. The team's best scorer was not for sale

Fenerbahce wanted Mateus Saldaña, offering ten million euros, but the offer from Turkey was rejected. The Brazilian got injured in the spring part of the season, he doesn't play nearly as well as he did in the autumn part, but he is still a sought-after commodity on the European market. As MaxBet Sport learns , the pulse of Partizan, but also the Brazilian goalscorer, is felt by the Scottish great Celtic.

The former European champions are on the hunt for a classy striker as they prepare to cash in on Kyoga Furuhashi. The Japanese has signed a new deal until 2027, but only so the Scots can negotiate even harder with Premier League sides who have swooped for their striker.

The Irishman Adam Ayda will most likely return to Norwich from his loan, so Saldaña's only competition should be the Korean Hyong Gyu Oh. But he is not a classic goalscorer and can also play on the wings. He scored only five goals in 26 games in all competitions.

That's why Celtic turned to look for a classic goalscorer, and the green and white scouts marked Saldaña as one of the targets. It is only about the initial interest, there was no mention of the amount of the transfer. According to Transfermarkt, Mateus Saldaña is worth eight million euros, the black and whites hope to get a million more.

If Saldaña were to move to Celtic, he would become only the third Brazilian in the history of the famous island club. Before him, defender Rafael Scheit and midfielder Juninho Paulista played for Celts

    He looks absolute quality..

    Quick
    Strong
    Versatile
    Looks a good finisher
    Can go by a man
    Bit of skill
    Creative
    Good first touch

Looks a player that would fit in well at us on the right but handy he looks like he'd be good left or up top..

Good also that he's played out in Eastern Europe for a bit first..

Seems like a bit of a nonsense link. But he looks * hot. €10m + would be a lot for 1 season where he hasn't reached 20 goals in Serbia. But one to weigh up.

I would be against selling Kyogo to replace. That leaves us in the same situation of having to find more quality...should be this guy and kyogo.

Selling Kyogo would be utter madness.

10m would be a huge risk. He's 24 and had 1 good season but even then not hit 20 goals.

This guy was suggested as a summer signing option in an article by The Celtic Way. I think he'd be the most expensive of their suggestions.

According to Transfermarkt none, he played centre forward in all of them.

On rejecting €10m Partizan were on course in January to win their first title for the first time in a very long time as Red Star dominate that league now and have done for years. If they had sold their star striker who was leading the charge it would have caused outrage.

One thing to keep in mind is Partizan have been in a lot of financial difficulty in recent seasons, a few players have broke their contracts over unpaid wages Asano was one of them and a young talented winger too we got linked with at the start of the season. No idea if that is still the case.

Not for me, 24 and stats wise doesn’t seem great until this season. Also looks like he’s been dropped since partizan dropped behind in the league

Looks like he more just is one of those all action players who get involved deeper a lot

Looking at that you would assume he played like a number 10 rather than a striker, hardly any strikers get involved as much that deep or even as wide. It's like what you'd see of O'Riley or Bruno Fernandes just minus the involvement in your own half on the ball.

I reckon he’s an inside-right (i.e. inverted right winger), and that’s where I’d like to see him used if we bought him. Seems to have a wand of a left-foot, good dribbling and off-ball movement and plenty technique.

Use Kühn as the main backup in that position, then buy a better RB, and in 2 windows we’ve completely transformed that right hand side.

I doubt this boy must have demanded a move there was talk of €9-10m for him but he just joined Ferencvaros for €3m.
