Defo another we should sign as a strong 3rd choice striker. Or 2nd choice if we can develop him l. We need a squad as well as a first eleven and he is a great backup3rd choice behind kypgo and potential other new striker. Hope that's how we play it anyway

You wonder if Norwich making it through the playoffs could be a factor.. if they get PL they may be easier to deal with.. if the stay in the Championship, Idah could do a job for them still.

It’ll be looked at us more money for him than Kyogo, and the expectation that comes along with that. Idah’s shown he’s worth having, but it’s an inflated English market fee for a player Norwich have no time for. Any other market, £5m is nowhere near the fee.

Looking at what he’s done so far and the way he’s taken responsibility on, the fee won’t phase him.

I would offer £2m and Mikey Johnston at first though, if they’re not up for that, then give them the £5m.

Or then they want more because you’re signing a ‘Premiership’ player. The market down there makes no sense.

Adam Idah is “very keen” to turn his Celtic loan deal into a permanent move from Norwich City, sources have told Football Insider.

Idah, 23, joined Celtic on loan in the January transfer window after being used as bit-part player in the first half of the campaign at Carrow Road.

The Canaries have reportedly quoted the Glasgow club with a £5million fee to sign the Republic of Ireland international permanently once the transfer window reopens.

The forward, whose contract doesn’t expire until 2028, wants to play in the Champions League next season, with the Hoops sitting three points above Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Sources have suggested all parties are now keen to make the deal happen over the coming weeks.

Idah has enjoyed a fruitful spell with Celtic after scoring seven goals in his opening 15 games for the club

While the loanee has had to play second fiddle to star striker Kyogo Furuhashi at times, he’s still featured in every match since his arrival in Glasgow earlier this year.

Norwich are now seemingly keen to move him on permanently after he’s failed to really kick on since progressing through their academy

Idah only scored 17 goals in 115 appearances for the English Championship club, seven of which came this season

The Cork-born forward is now hoping to make the permanent switch north of the border after impressing for Brendan Rodgers’s side in recent weeks.

He will be hoping the two clubs can quickly come to an agreement as he looks to sign on the dotted line at Celtic Park.

Actually think we're getting him at the right time.

"17 of 115 matches, 7 of with was this season"

Strikers sometimes blossom at a certain age. He could be just coming onto that now. Say he played as many minutes as kyogo this entire season, I bet he would have scored more than him.

I'd get him signed, and if they are keen to move him on Pete will be getting him for half that price quoted. Work your magic.

It's the price that is the issue more than anything.

We are all screaming for us to go up a bracket in spending to get better quality and take us up a notch in European football.

Ideally we all want to spend 5-7m on 3-5 players to bring in real quality.

That said, at 5m, is Idah that level of quality?

If we are thinking £5m is value for Idah then what would we value Miovski at? It wouldn't take much more to get a player who looks fully rounded and is going to score goals for us. Also technically looks a player that would do well for us in Europe.

I like Idah but he doesn't look a £5m player.

He's the ideal 2-3m project signing we should make as opposed to the half dozen we sign every season.

Unfortunately we have enough of them as well at the club.

    5m is just too much.

I think Miovski will move to where he thinks he can get 1st team football, and if he doesn't think it's Celtic he won't come. Although I don't think Rodgers believes Kyogo is a guaranteed starter.

I think Idah is worth £5m, but I'm not sure we should sign him. If Kyogo was on fire like the past 2 years I actually would say he's a really good 2nd choice. Kyogo hasn't been on fire and I fear another season like this one. You'd want someone to step up and add straight away. I suppose if the manager thinks he's worth it then he should be signed. If Rodgers thinks he has the right attitude in training then I'd be happy with it.

Idah has stepped up though when Kyoto wasn’t firing, a perfect second choice striker imo

Kyogo is from a cheaper market, one that we’ve had mixed success in. Getting a player as good as either Kyogo or Idah, from England, isn’t easy. We don’t have to exclusively shop in England either, but that’s where Idah is being signed from hence the point, and Idah has proven he can do the business for us domestically.

A lot of our best signings from the past 15 years have come from England and Idah is absolutely worth £5m imo. A direct comparison with Kyogo is inevitable as they both play in the same position, but they both offer us something different. We need to move on from thinking a £5m player is a big money signing, it isn’t.

£5m gets you * all these days really, especially when you consider the players that have come in for that money and decided they don't like Glasgow, they don't like Scottish football, they don't get on with the manager or whatever.

For Idah, we already know he loves it here and he's going to contribute. He's not good technically and I don't think he's ever going to improve there but based on what we've seen from him I'd say we should pay it.

If he was to keep up his performances next season I think he'd become a fan favourite.

For 5 million I think we could get better value elsewhere, he is a big strong lad that can rumble defenders, but would he consistently score 15 goals every season, I am not convinced.

He has 7 goals & 2 assists in 10 League appearances for us....and only 4 of those he started.

I think that's strong enough evidence to suggest he'd definitely break those numbers.

£5m is on the high side - it's unfortunate we didn't include an agreed price in the loan deal.

Should be looking to sign striker better than Kyogo, not an expensive back up like Idah.
If we splurged £5M on him, that would be the striker budget busted - unless Lawell has an absolute brain storm and opens the tin.
Based on previous spending patterns we'll only sign one striker, so we should be aiming much higher than someone who cant get in Norwich team.

Who gives a * about Norwich? We're no signing Ronaldo. He's got more goals per min than kyogo. He's younger than kyogo. Who do you suggest we can afford that's better than kyogo? Apparently nobody from teams like Norwich, and I doubt real Madrid will sell us anyone.
