Good luck to him, not his biggest fan, but maybe that will get his confidence up.

I think the criticism he receives from Celtic fans is really underserved. He has not done anything wrong for us.

I just think he will be one of these players that, no matter what he does for us, the majority of the fans will never appreciate him. :38:

Well done Andy on making the German squad. Bad players, not even average players get into the German national team so that proves his quality :50:.

Let me put that down in the ever-increasing list of reasons to die - he has been * AWFUL! Perhaps the remainder of the squad have put money Lichtenstein WINNING the game, hence his inclusion...

A few more caps, and then with any luck we can ship him for what we have spent and let young Caddis get the chance he so richly deserves.

Agreeing with you. Think some of the stick he gets is really undeserved. The problem is probably that there was so much hype created surrounding him before he signed that we all had such high expectations. I don't think he has been that bad, average if anything. But, I think we still have a lot more of him to see and getting this call up can only boost his confidence. Hope he does well for Germany and brings that back to CP aswel

agreed its not fair, but his mistake against DUTD was shocking.

and he's done a lot more wrong, he just gets bailed out from boruc or other defenders a lot.

but the stick he gets is harsh and a bit OTT.

That's what he came to Celtic for and now he's got it.

Surprised to hear he's made the squad tbh, but hope he gets some appearances.

Good on him, tired of the unjustified criticism he gets. He's a solid full back with a good cross.

Germany must be in a bad state of affairs!
I agree with the point someone said about how hopefully it'll build his confidence a bit.
Time is wearing thin, but I still have a bit of hope that he'll come good.

German national coach Jogi Löw on Hinkel: "He has been a first team regular for a while now and has been playing well lately."

    Spot on.

It's funny how everyone has gone from (over-)hyping him to laying into him for no reason at all. I watched the Old Firm match yesterday and for me, it looked like he did the basics, i.e. kept his side shut. And I remember people saying at the end of last season that you lot had hardly conceded any goals on his side... So, where and when did it all change?

Give him time, ffs, it's the start of the season, some players just need a little more time to get back into gear.

In any case, I'm glad he's back in the German national team.

"Andreas is a regular at Celtic and has been playing well there recently," said Loew of the 26-year-old Hinkel.

Well done Andy. A boost of confidence is all that is needed for him and to be fair much of the criticism directed at him is a bit over the top.

However I must say that although at a much lower level, Caddis continues to impress in the reserves. Another great performance from the right back against Dundee Utd last week.

It's the "playing well recently" part that makes it all so glorious.....
Where? At a local park, perchance? Certainly nowhere that i've been watching, that's for sure - absolutely delighted for him personally, and for us as a club as it maintains his overall value...

Still burst out in laughter through disbelief, however.

So far from what we’ve seen he is no better a RB than Wilson, Caddis or Doumbe, he only plays as he cost 2 million their can be no other reason. He has no power, energy, tackling ability and is easily beat, very un-impressive thus far.

Hopefully this unexpected call up will give him some confidence and we will see the real Andy Hinkel if indeed we haven’t seen him already.
