Liam Scales

I've given Scales enough slaggings on here so it's only fair I come on and say he looked alright yesterday. A couple of stray balls but that's to be expected.

We can't change that CCV and Scales partnership now for the run in. They will be crucial

 

When our defence keeps gifting up so many easy chances, continues to fail to win any crosses into the ball, how can you praise the defenders?

Scales had a couple of tackles and a good clearance. He also had a number of mistakes. One had a negative affect on the game. It unnerved our players

Scales ran forward with the ball into the Dundee half. He then played the ball directly to a Dundee player. They played the ball right over our missing defence and were in behind.

If Scales continues to start games be needs to stay in defence.

 

He’s a target for the opposition now.

Dundee sat off CCV and AJ but as soon as the ball went to Scales they triggered the press.

Whenever he does get time on the ball, he takes far too many touches. Drives into space, loses the ball and is caught out of possession.

He deserves a huge amount of recognition and praise for his contribution this season but he needs taken out of the team now.

For a rest if anything. I think he’s played more football than anyone in our squad.

 

Confidence looks absolutely shot. Shame.

 

More a subject for hopefully when the league has been won but the rebuild in the summer is gonna be massive. Could be only Johnston ccv McGregor hatate maeda and kyogo as guaranteed first team players.. get some money for him and I think he could do fairly well at championship level

Dundee picked up where Aberdeen left off

 

His season reminds me a bit of Turnbull in Anges first season, vital for us in the first half or so of the season and like turnbull tapering off as the season goes, DT did get an injury to be fair to him. Both not quite good enough to be a first team starter but still contributed when they were needed

 

This is likely player wise

 

Given this season and the way Rodgers traditionally likes to play id be shocked if Kyogo is a guaranteed first team player next season.

 

Given he’s not homegrown I think we should be looking to offload him to the Championship down south at the end of the season. I’m sure he could do a turn for plenty of sides down there where he’s not on the ball as much as he is here.

 

Btw his early season form can’t be overlooked. If he does move on, that needs to be remembered.

Too many people quick to forget that and label players as duds.

 

Not sure anyone's forgetting that to be fair.

He's rightly been given a whole host of credit throughout the season. But usually with the caveat that it was unexpected and he was playing above his ability at times.

That's came to be so in the second half of the season, but that's no fault on him at all.

He leaves this summer, he will leave having done a superb job this season and can be proud of his involvement. Specially if he leaves with a couple of winner medals.

I agree, it's why I'm not against giving him a new deal, albeit not a 5 year deal like the rest were given.

It's easy to forget he was MOTM at Ibrox and MOTM against Atletico Madrid. It wasn't until January where his form fell off a cliff, but before that he was only behind O'Riley in terms of our POTY.

 

If you look at things people say about him, they’ve forgotten or choose to ignore it.

Won’t lie. I was buzzing for tomorrow after watching a few podcasts this morning and seeing the lightning ⚡️ Daizen post.
But seeing Scales getting a 4 year contract has just dampened my spirits

 

I don't even care really..

As a backup I suppose he's alright as he could fill 2 positions but really I want a top centre half in to partner Carter-Vickers and another in on the wings with Scales possibly being that utility man 4th kinda centre half..
