Rodgers wanted him to stay but MJ wanted the move because he wasn't playing enough.

Fair enough, I stand corrected, but Mikey should’ve got a better crack of the whip this season considering that, A; he had done reasonably well, and B; our back-up options are *.

When he came back from the Asian Cup he looked as though he'd learned something. His performances in the first few games back were very decent.

Now he gone back to the Yang of the before.

    Punt.

He's like a wee boy who sneaked onto the park to play with the older boys - but he's 22 not 16.
Lacks even the most basic skills to be a top professional player and if the jersey is heavy on Mikey, it's a deep sea diving suit on the back of this weak wee boy.

The fact he's starting games at this point of the season is wild. It's got to be Forrest or Palma, but even Palma has been terrible.

He can’t start another game for us. Has to be palma or forrest for the run in.

Id rather we just started Jamesy and gave him an hour if that's all he can manage.

We usually sub at least 1 winger off in 60th minute anyway so not like it's gonna massively upset our game plan.

Still don't understand Rodgers comments anyway about Forrest not been able to play with the requited intensity especially when you look at the absolute pish Yang and Palma are serving up, don't see much high intensity from either of them

He is ridiculously naive and that’s exactly what you don’t need in a Title run in.

Would benefit massively with a loan.

Clicked on this thread to make this point. He has talent, and we’ve seen it briefly, but we’ve seen him getting overwhelmed and terrible decision making even when he’s in full flow. A year on loan in our league, we can see if he comes back ready to be a player for us or not. I don’t think from what we’ve seen from him in spurts rules out the possibility of him making it here.

But if he stays here as a bit part, off the bench guy or * forbid we have a season like this when he’s the guy we need to rely upon, then he won’t.

Because he’s stepped in and had brief flashes of being handy when we had horrendous options on the wing, the fear is we leave him in the shadows as 6th/7th choice next season incase we need an option for 5 or 6 games and a guy coming on for 10 minutes.

It’s something we’ve done through the years, under far too many different managers, the biggest recent example I can think of is Welsh had an option for a loan to Serie A, after we said we don’t want to let him go permanently. Because we needed him as what, 5th choice or so. He played a bit part about 15 games.

If he had 40 games at that level, and came back for pre-season, that helps so much more in the long run for us. But now he’s 23 or so, inexperienced, and comes in for emergencies.

Saying that, 2 times he would have came in majorly as the 2nd main man, CCV getting surgery last season then start of this season CCV getting a setback and being unavailable, Welsh got injured at the same time. Scales this year stepped up for what he was probably expected to do. Even now Welsh could majorly do with a loan, BR another manager that trusts him as a back up it won’t happen though.

And another bit part 10/15 game season, he’ll be 24 going on 25, and he’ll be let go as another mismanaged youngster

Almost every department needs fixed and has been the case for years upon years now.

As LS is saying, we've guys who are 5th, 6th even 7th choice that should be getting game time and experience, but aren't. They are then a year older and lacking experience.

Guys like Yang, I've no problem with him at all. He's very young and all the usual caveats of different cultures new club, young etc etc.

He's gonna have ups and downs. Anyone expecting a 21 year old who's only had two full seasons in Korea to come to Scotland of all places and completely tear it up, is naive as *.

We needed Abada big time this season, it is what it is. However guys like Forrest probably should then have been the starting RW with Yang as his backup to come off the bench, build experience, get a steady run while then Forrest comes on.

Instead we ended up with a bucket load of wingers, some out on loan, some completely ignored, some injured and Yang is thrusted in to the centre stage like a deer in the headlights.

Happy to keep him next season, but the structure and order of how we use players, a pathway as such, needs to be properly established and executed.

Otherwise it's the same old same, we will be here a year later wondering why our 7th choice winger only gets a game every 4 or 5 matches and why he's not ripping it up.

I agree with the recent posts. It's something we need to improve on, getting loans for players. And not lazy loans either, carefully targeted loans to good managers, to places they will get game time and whenever possible to decent leagues like the Championship (although loans in League 1 and the SPL can also work wonders, as we saw with McGregor and Ajer respectively).

As for Yang, what happened to him was really unlucky and seems to have really knocked his confidence. I've seen good players make that exact move, jumping in the air with one leg high and then flicking it over a defender (I've even seen some great players do it, like Ronaldinho, who did it a few times IIRC) and he was unlucky that the Hearts player decided to stick his head in there like a daftie. He needs a loan for sure; but in the short term, he needs to get his confidence back.

We have seen flashes of good stuff from him on a few occasions but that performance Saturday was terrible. We literally can't afford anyone to put in that shift he did at the weekend.

Loan would benefit him massively. Not on the sell him wagon yet.

Looking at pre-season the team was being built around Maeda, Kyogo and Abada. Not necessarily as a front 3 either Maeda was another striker option, we were on flights and in different timezones that much we barely had time to train as well. But it was working, Hatate, O’Riley and Abada’s movement in the friendlies were causing havoc.

Abada immediately changed his mind after talking to Rodgers and pre-season set up that he wanted to stay, it was shaping up to be his season, then a long term injury and a * up war scuppered they plans altogether.

And that’s pretty much the story of our season, anytime we’ve took a step forward, injuries have scuppered the plan. * Liam Scales was leaving and we were just waiting till the Monday after 2nd game of the season against Aberdeen at Pittodrie. Then we got 5 CB’s injured. Iwata came in at one point first half of the season, ‘we’ve cracked it that’s the answer’ he got injured. Hatate signed a new contract, 2 games he played looking like the guy we expect, scored maybe goal of the season. Injured.

We got a bit of form, needing to just keep games coming - International break. Then the next time - Winter break, Asian Cup, Injuries.

We’re 6/7 games left of the season and we’ve just got started really. Even down to, signed Kuhn, got a tooth out a month of a liquid diet lost a stone, looked awful. And we’re just starting to see that’s not the player he is the first glimpses we got. We had to play Nat * Phillips at one point.

Taylor got injured and when he came back he was peerless and untouchable and we were so thankful he was back on his return for two months or so that’s now in recent weeks wearing off. That’s unheard of that :56:

This season is something I’ve never experienced before, I don’t want to use it as an excuse because a lot of games we’ve been poor I think we should have still been a lot better regardless, but BR this year has been backed horrendously and we’ve had shocking injury issues.

And now it’s going more our way, which is unfair judgement really, I’m giving Rodgers the leeway of a * hand dealt to him. I wasn’t at the time when we dropped an 8 point lead though

I don't think many of us expected him to tear it up.

But IIRC he was voted young player of the year in South Korea? Could be wrong. So he's not exactly coming here with no hype in his homeland.

The fact is for me what we have seen hasn't offered any encouragement whatsoever. I can accept young players needing time if they contribute now and again and naturally they need work. But he's not showing much at all.

Abada came here as a 19 year old lad and immediately showed what he could offer. That's the type of 'prospect' we need to target.

Yang for me is lumped in there with a bunch of the lower level project type signings we have had over the years. Barring a few flashes he's looked miles out of his depth.

He's a level below what we need. At his best he pulls off sort of scrappy play around the box that helps us out, but at his worst he is literally damaging to the cause. Makes Maeda look technically accomplished.

He is a total passenger at the moment. Cost us a victory v the huns and was dreadful at the weekend. He should be benched for the rest of the season, hope to * that Rodgers finally realises this.

I think if we're going to keep targeting players like this then we need to have 12 months loans agreed pretty much straight away for them. Give them a year to get used to the league and then see how they do, if they're tearing it up then recall them in the next window.
