    Canny find the board thread.

    He’ll do.

This situation, potentially losing what the CL money brings, criminal!!

We should not be narrowly beating this shower of * or drawing after their issues.

Under his stewardship we’ve let them back in.

    Utter disgrace!!

See he's been involved in a very important argument with the chairman of his golf club regarding the payment of £1800 towards a new irrigation system for the course.

Tight * in all walks of life it would seem.

    Priorities and aw that.

I hope someone that boozer gave him a slagging for how the clubs been ran over the last year :56:

Even if we win the double this year I think we need a few first team players in and given the financial state of the club, I would hope it’ll be more than 4million quid we spend on a player this summer.

Majority shareholder Dermot Desmond believes Celtic have done "exceptionally well" in the early weeks of the current campaign.

A dramatic late win at Ross County on Sunday stretched their winning league start to seven games, with a League Cup semi-final to come next month.

Desmond, who was playing at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, said a chastening 7-1 Champions League defeat by Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday was unfortunate, but the Irishman said "it was important" Celtic responded.

"I am very pleased," he told BBC Scotland.

"I think we have played good football. We had a good start and could have played bad football, but we have played very good and exciting football.

“Unfortunately we weren't at our best on Tuesday, but I like what we are doing, what Brendan is doing and I think we have a good squad."

While Rodgers and his side will be looking to retain their top-flight crown and claim both domestic cups, European progression is also an aim.

Despite the humiliation in Dortmund, Celtic still have three points from their opening two games after thrashing Slovan Bratislava in their opening fixture.

Asked what his hopes are for the remainder of the Champions League campaign, Desmond added: "I would like to see some good results, home results and maybe nick a point or two away.

"I think we have done exceptionally well so far. It's interesting to play eight different teams, four at home and four away with all different rankings.

"I think it makes it exciting for the club, the supporters and people generally."

Shane Lowry closed with a six-under 66 in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship to rack up his sixth top-13 finish in a row and move to 20th in the European Ryder Cup points race.

The Clara man tied for 12th on 16-under-par after a seven-birdie round on the Old Course and while he’s still seeking his first individual win since the 2022 BMW PGA, he’s been a model of consistency this season, recording 13 top 20 finishes in 25 events as well as that team win with Rory McIlroy in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

He was playing alongside a subdued McIlroy, who shot 68 to tie for 25th on 14-under with Pádraig Harrington, who closed with a 69.

Holywood’s Tom McKibbin made six birdies, a double bogey and four bogeys in a rollercoaster 72 and slip to 43rd on 12-under.

But the biggest Irish success story of the day came from businessman Dermot Desmond (74), who shot a 13-under 59 with Denmark’s Thorbjørn Olesen to win the team title by two shots from individual title winner Tyrrell Hatton and his father Jeff on 48-under-par.

“It's fantastic,” Desmond said. “I really enjoy playing with Thorbjørn and they are wonderful golf courses, great sponsor, and with my sons here, what can be better.

Desmond was receiving six strokes — two thirds of his official handicap — and came in six times on the card.

After winning with Robert Karlsson in 2010, Desmond matches his friend JP McManus, who won with Pádraig Harrington in 2002 and 2006, with two wins.

He also earned bragging rights over his sons Dery, Ross and Brett, who failed to make the 54-hole cut.

“They are much better golfers than I am,” he said. “At my age now, I'm a realist. I know what I can do, and I know what I can't do. There's a lot of things I can't do that they can do.”

I would have thought that even owning a set of golf clubs would preclude him from owning a football club, absolute mockery of the fit and proper person test if the Golf * can run about doing normal people stuff.

No offence to any Golf * on the forum....:RedFinger

I’m surprised he knew our recent results, there must have been an old newspaper in his golf club changing rooms he read as he was waiting his tee time.

Tbf, he’s done a lot for the club. If he wants to play golf in his spare time and continue to oversee the soon to be scotlands most successful club… I’m all for it :34:

He doesn't get a lot of thanks and praise, Dermot, but I think over his 30 years, I was actually looking at this, Dermot has had 45 trophies during his tenure. It's 38 per cent of Celtic's total. I mean, he gets this kind of absentee landlord thing. But as you say, his commitment is pretty thorough, isn't it?

Oh, his passion, his energy and enthusiasm for Celtic, it's unswerving. His commitment to the club is incredible.

Yeah, he's not one that wants to be out there. And rightly so, he's not going to be out there. You don't see his face all the time, but that should not mean that he's not interested. Because I can tell you from myself, having worked here twice, I know the passion and the love he has for Celtic and his club and as a supporter. So, yeah, these types of things sometimes come up if the team loses a game.

But it's all a myth. He's so unswerving in his commitment to Celtic, everything he gives to it. And obviously, the support I've had from him over my two spells has been absolutely incredible. So, yeah, it was nice really to get together with him and spend some hours just looking at where we're at and how we go forward in January and beyond

It's good to hear the plans for January are well under way.
