Celtic are negotiating with Benfica in the hope of lowering the £6m release clause for Paulo Bernardo, with the 22-year-old Portuguese midfielder on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy.

If we get the price dropped to around 3-4mill then it's definitely worth a punt imo.

 

Aye id be more happy at 3-4mill range than the 6-6.5m.

Even a flopped next season, we would get most of that back.
The 6-7m, we would struggle.

Expecting a wee boost in his game after scoring, he really needed a wee goal to boost him.

 

If it makes you feel better the £2m extra we actually made on interest in the bank. So he's basically 4 anyway get him signed.

 

Aye I'd be happy signing him for £3-3.5 million, as stated there's a good chance we need 2, maybe even 3 midfielders in the summer, so would be nice tying him down.

 

Every player has their price I dont think Celtic would sell Hatate or Oriley in the one window but if they are offered 30 million plus they will

Also the "no brainer" element of it is that if we don't spend 6m (or whatever the price tag is) for the already tested and passmarked product, we're gonna end up spending the same for some 2 completely random "projects" which are likely to turn out being absolutely disastrously *

I think I've just talked myself out of any doubts....

 

I think many think he isn't worth it because he isn't flashy. But he's pretty solid, strong, creative and does score. Just because CCV and Jota cost 6m doesn't mean this guy isn't worth it, they both just happened to be an absolute steal.

For me 6m is good value for a guy who is consistent, fits in with the team, wants to be here and can score. You may get better for that price but there is less risk here.

 

Also 6m in 2022 = 8.5m in 2024
Look at your every day grocery prices no notice what difference 2 years can make

6m is pennies

Considering we paid 7 million for 2 centre halves that cannot get a game, we have to make a move for him as his value will increase with consistent game time.
