A big reason why footballers stop playing is money. Basically injuries are risks to future payments, and because of the money involved it's much easier to stop playing than risk your future salary.

McGregor, Ralston, Taylor are exceptions to this but if most of our squad get even a sign of an injury they are gone.

I can remember WGS saying foreign players won’t play injured but he could count on UK and Ireland to do so, a lot of the time the guys who played through it would get long term injuries that was worse for us in the long run, Lenny was shocking for that his first stint with us, guys he knew would he would expect it if they said they could. Kayal was * for a long time until he moved down south and got a rest, as was Lustig and Forrest who were fine after Ronny didn’t do it and gave them tailored training to keep them fit.

But every manager up until Rodgers down it to Broony, and BR doing it to Rogic, Tierney and Calmac when he was checked out his last season before going, and knowing the ramifications because he’d shown he knows for a fact. That is still my issue with BR beyond anything, I understood him going, didn’t make me go the full rat patter that he got but that with they players, when he knew the damage, that he knew he’d not be there to get the long term effects. I can’t forgive that. Rogic in particular had injections to play against the likes of Dundee, and he was * for possibly 2 seasons because of it.

Aye, that's my biggest (original) thing with Rodgers. People go on about him leaving and the timing, but by the time he did I wanted him to go because of the way he treated the players, Tierney particularly, and the * awful football he has us playing.

    Fatigue.

O’Riley has played the full match in every game since early November, as well as playing most matches before that too.

It’s also very difficult to maintain peak form over 50-60 games.

Sure i heard Halliday say he’s heard from someone who won’t lie that they think it’s just a calf strain and not achillies so there’s something if you choose to believe it.

Already prepared myself that he won’t be back in til next season but you never know.

Why can't they just come out and tell us either way?

We’ve been doing that since Ange and pretty much only thing we’ve kept the same since he left, we don’t give definite timeline and return dates for players. We give ‘progress updates’ and vague we’ll see what we think in a certain timeframe. It’s frustrating cos we want to know for definite he’s back for this date, but really it’s more accurate to say we’ll start to see by a certain time and assess again. Every injury, even the same injury, is different. Every player is different in recovery.

But we have said we’re hopeful for him being available for the Hun game and International break gives him the chance. So we definitely don’t think it’s a season ender, when it’s long term we say it’s long term out.

It's hoped Callum McGregor will be able to face Livingston after the international break but he will continue to work to get up to speed and then be assessed

Brendan Rodgers has revealed crocked Celtic skipper Callum McGregor’s return from injury is “imminent” in what will be a huge boost for the Parkhead side ahead of a massive season run-in.

The hugely influential Hoops captain has been sidelined due to an issue with his Achilles and calf and missed the Scottish Premiership defeat to Hearts, Scottish Cup win over Livingston and league victory against St Johnstone. There were fears over when the 30-year-old would be back in action - with some suggestions that he could be out for the SEASON - but Rodgers has moved to allay them.

Rodgers takes his side across the M8 to rock bottom Livingston with domestic action returning after the international break and the Irishman’s words to Celtic TV will be music to the ears of fans as he spoke of McGregor’s return timeline. It was put to Rodgers: “With Cameron now back to fitness and the imminent return of our captain Callum McGregor

    Beautiful..

Looks like we've deliberately held him back from international duty for the run in..

    We're looking strong now..

Obvious with the “imminent” comment he was never playing on Sunday or Rodgers would have said so. He is still a massive doubt for the Huns game in my view.
