and hailed his replacement James Forrest as 'the best winger Celtic have.'

That was nice. My joy was complete when James Forrest came on, just seeing that quality and how he receives the ball. It was great to see when he came on.

With the quality he's got, James is the best winger we have. With the greatest respect to the others, but in terms of the intensity we ask for in the game, constant runs, constant pressure (he's the best). Sadly age catches up with every player and every person but he still has a contribution to make and you saw that today when he came on for the final 20/25 minutes

James Forrest was excellent today with Brendan Rodgers once again stating James Forrest is ‘the best winger we have’ but of course at the same time accepting he doesn’t have the energy and legs he once had.

Every manager that has been at Celtic since James emerged as a youngster has rated him very highly. Only the disrespectful and downright ignorant among the Celtic support still refuse to give him the credit he deserves.

Great cameo. Zero harm having him in and around the squad with his experience.

He's still a useful player to have. His football intelligence is above most we have

    Good cameo..

Was twisting and turning their left back inside out and keeps the ball well..

The manager keeping on for the second or third time about him being the best winger at the club isn't the fkex he thinks it is though..

It’s always something that every manager he’s played under has made a point to stress in interviews and to support, weirdly to me he’s never been fully accepted and is every inch a legend IMO anyway.

Even at his most explosive, daring, get the ball and beat a man phase of his career, his ball retention (especially in the CL at one point) was ridiculous for a winger, and something in world football in the very best world class players, out and out wingers, they didn’t keep the ball that much. He was something like 89% in the CL under Rodgers and Lenny, he’d rarely turn possession over to the other team, and he would be taking guys on and trying to create. It’s something I’ve always found wildly impressive and it’s part of the football intelligence.

I think we should utilise him more than we have, guys like Forrest whos been there and done it and has known nothing but a winning mentality his full career thats now dwindling, guys like that who knows whats needed - if you look at Alex Fergusons full management career, he built teams that had a backbone in reserve of guys that had the trust to do what he wanted, and the mentality knowing what was required. And it keeps that level up, something we’ve not done well through the years is bringing former crucial players who are still here in at crucial moments to use the experience. Usually they’re dismissed to the rubbish heap, like Forrest largely has, or played until the can no longer do it like Broony and Lustig

I've always liked Forrest, has an annoying penchant to ghost in big games but his contributions to us over the years have been massive. Great technical quality, pace and a good finisher on his day. One of the best at keeping possession too.

The Rodgers comments are bizarre though. There's simply no need for it and it just isn't true these days. He chooses his words carefully so there's about 50 other ways he could have made a similar complementary statement about him that would have been genuinely true. But he didn't.

My theory is that Rodgers is getting all of the old/experienced heads on side, Forrest, McGegor, Taylor etc and mesmerising them so that they'll support him to the hilt if and when job is on the line.

For me it totally depends on what players see in training, and Forrest being around in the dressing room and training, knowing the standards demanded is pretty much why Ange made sure he was kept.

If other players see that, what Rodgers expects and have an example of it day in day out who just isn’t physically capable of sustained intensity that the younger guys are, then it’s good management.

If the other guys thinks he’s * and useless and don’t give a * about whatever he’s done here when they were kids or teenagers really, then it’s not.

I reckon he’d make an impact early in the game, more faith in him than others, and you know his hearts in it,regardless of manager,he’s playing for us.

Glad to see him back in, he’ll be making an impact between now and end of the season.

Nice to see him get a goal. Looked shattered after 25 minutes though, guess Rodgers wasn't kidding about the fitness.

James Forrest STILL proving his worth to Celtic. Year after year this man contributes with goals and assists. Sorry but any Celtic fan who can’t bring themselves to give James Forrest the credit he deserves is a clueless * CLOWN, simple as that.

Even this season, there was a moment in Europe in one of the games where he was given the ball in a very dangerous situation under severe pressure and he just calmly let it run across him, got his body in the way and kept possession. I remember being quite impressed by that.
