Been said many times but he’s what we missed in Europe and a lot of domestic games, he’s a complete no.6.

Keeps it simple but effective. Silent assassin. If only there was a Japanese word for that.

Absolutely brilliant seems to be all over the park and in the right positions all the time.

Though he was pipped to motm by AJ.

Definitely makes some difference to the team, clear difference in his natural defensive qualities compared to McGregor.

He's always in the right areas to pounce on loose balls or close angles on people breaking and he reads the game well and moves it quick to guys in space without thinking. Smart player and good to watch.

Some people may think playing a defensive midfielder at home in the league is a negative move (Rodgers included) but he's started 2 games at home all season. Won 4-1 and 7-1.

Having that protection in there allows others more freedom to go and play

Seems to add balance to the midfield. Neat and tidy and it means McGregor isn't man marked the whole game. Another one like Yang who needs to do it consistently now.

yeah think he will have the same impact in the team as brown did in rodgers seasons. Brown knew his job was to keep the ball moving and break up play and not get to high up the park.

McGregor in that position is good but I feel as though he can try and get too involved in the attacking phase and maybe gets caught up the park sometimes. Iwata knows where he can go without leaving his defensive duties.

he's some player. What I like about him is how quick he is to get across and break up the oppositions attack. There was a moment in the first half when the boy Bakayoko had loads of space on the ball and all of a sudden Iwata glided across and pinched the ball off him. Look so much better balanced when he's there

Could be a big player for us in the games against the diets then the huns. Start him in both if he's fit.

In all honesty how he’s not got into the side before now is a mystery. I know he’s had some small injuries etc but what a difference having a proper 6 in the side to break up play and be in the positions we need to cut out attacking plays

This sums him up perfectly. He will get better with each game. Just seems to be alert to danger. Really like him.
