Glen Coe area was my go to, the most outstanding place on earth for me. Such a beautiful rustic landscape. I often wonder if there are parts that human feet haven't touched. If there are I sincerely hope they never do

Edit apologies not the right thread

Yer photos are outstanding mate, post away till your heart's content !! :50:

I don't ever use my camera, and I never photograph people really..... But I've always got my phone handy and I spend more nights outdoors than yir average homeless person. My phone has thousands of photos of the night sky, moon, sun setting....... people occasionally say to me " how many photos of the * sky do you want, they're all the same...". But I just love being under the (night) sky, and I constantly find it so beautiful that I've got to capture the moment by way of a photo.

I sit at the same spot pretty much all of the time, and there's a headland that juts out forming the bay that runs north to south. I posted photos earlier showing the sun setting just inside the tip of that headland (from my spot). As the earth wobbles from summer to winter each year I've observed the sunset move from a slight dip three quarters of the way along (summer solstice) to just beyond the tip and into the sea (winters solstice) for about 15 years. I've watched the tide come in and out a thousand times and know exactly how far up and down it'll go throughout it's entire cycle. I've watched the moon and stars rise, arc across the sky and set again hundreds of times (winter as well as the hot summer nights).. I observe all the meteor showers, look out for passing satellites, and get my binoculars out for any comets that are seeable....... I do it with company, but mostly alone. Always with alcohol and often smoke, mostly with music but often just in silence. All the nighttime wildlife know me and will get close if im on my own and sitting quietly. . Long story short, a lot of my friends think I'm a * fruitcake, but I prefer sitting under the stars to sitting in a crowded restaurant or bar.....I feel more in common, more of a connection, with the universe., than I do with all but an ever shrinking group of people. And it's mechanisms and movement is the only thing I find really worth photographing.

Bit more long-winded than I intended lol, but I'm just sitting here myself lol. :50:

I can relate to everything you’re saying, we truly are lucky to be able to look up at the sky or observe flora and fauna we can only marvel at its beauty and mystery. The mind opens if you allow it into a deep state of connectivity with the celestial bodies above us and nature surrounding us.
Lao Tzu once stated, “To the mind that is still, the whole Universe surrenders.”
My understanding of that is if we allow our minds to be quiet and we give ourselves permission to do the same, we begin to see life in a whole new light. The Universe reveals itself to us as a beautifully wrapped gift.

Thanks QSS.Never tried it with a phone, think you would still need to use a tripod though, unless you can hold the camera completely still for 15/20 seconds which is not easy.Up above the the Milky Way are two Magellanic Clouds, and according to google they are “irregular galaxies”

looks like you captured the Emu in the sky. Aboriginals use this as a calendar for the seasons. At different times of the year the Emu in the Sky is oriented so it appears to be either running or sitting down. Depending upon its position people in the western desert knew it was time to hunt for emus or collect their eggs.
