For example- Stephen McManus or Tony Ralston.

However, it doesn't need to be a "limited" player.

Remembering listening to an interesting interview with him and he spoke about this very subject. He made sure that he worked harder than anyone else in the team to allow him to do a job marking and playing next to guys who were technically on a totally different level.

Neil Lennon possibly. My uncle went to school with him and said he was never a great footballer. Didn’t stand out at all in the yard. Don’t think he was technically a good footballer but turned himself into an incredibly effective one.

Maeda. Guy can't hit a barn door (and you sometimes wonder why he chose football over athletics :giggle1:) but the two managers we've had since he came have put him back in at every opportunity because as soon as he's out we lose so much energy.

Big Mick instantly jumps to mind.

He was Celtic captain in the last 16 of the Champions League through sheer will because in terms of technical ability his base as a footballer in general was shockingly low.

Had leadership, determination and a will to win that few others that came through the Academy could match. Squeezed out every ounce of potential he had.

Greg Taylor is possibly a shout for me for other reason. He’s so physically limited. He’s small, not quick, not strong. He’s got the best out of his technical ability whereby he’s a regular started at Celtic and that’s a credit to him. Last season he was a standout performer. I think he’s one you could definitely say has gotten a lot out of his talent

Tommy Coyne, fairly limited player but his work ethic was superb and played to his strengths for Celtic and Ireland
In a similar way, loved Anton Rogan, heart of a lion!

Scott Brown. Compared to some of our midfielders in the last couple of decades he is not a particularly great player but managed to carve out a legacy at Celtic that will be long remembered.

Henrik Larsson for me. He was certainly a gifted footballer; but for me, he was less gifted than Lubo, DiCanio, Berkovic or Nakamura. When we sold Paolo DiCanio and bought Larsson, DiCanio was unquestionably the better player.

And yet every year, he got better and better and for me, he went on to become a better player than any of them.

Didier Agathe came to mind instantly upon reading the title.

Maybe Fraser Forster too. The first few months of his first loan spell were unconvincing to say the least.

Thought of him and Gerry Creaney when I saw the question.

Some more guys who aren't legends, but were excellent at their time here.

Wieghorst - Didn't appreciate him fully while he was here
Tosh Mckinley - Good overlapping full back with a good cross
    Barry Robson - Leader
McNamara - from his link up with Donnelly under Burns to the job he did for MON
    Lambert
    Sutton

Hard to narrow it down to one, but have to agree with Henrik

The fact that Daizen Maeda is even a professional footballer says it's him.
