Solid last few games to be fair, made some great saves. Breaks my heart though when he punches away corners that he could easily catch

Was top class today. Showing his leadership and maturity with not having a settled backline in front of him.

Brendan Rodgers has praised Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart for his recent fine form, with his strong display against St Mirren on Sunday the latest in a string of impressive showings from the veteran since the end of the winter shutdown.

Hart made an outstanding save from an acrobatic Alex Gogic effort to contribute to Celtic’s relatively smooth progression to the Scottish Cup quarter finals at the weekend, and he stood tall under some intense pressure as the Saints bombarded his box with corners during the first half of the game.

Hart has faced criticism at points this season, and with the 36-year-old’s contract due to expire in the summer, it is widely thought that his future may lie away from Celtic Park

But his performance in Paisley, which came off the back of Hart making huge saves at critical moments in the recent games against Aberdeen and Hibernian, drew praise from his manager.

“Joe doesn’t have a lot to do but the times he does he makes wonderful saves,” Rodgers said.

“He’s a real catalyst for the team with the way him and Cal (McGregor) lead the dressing room.

“The saves he makes are so impressive. There were lots of crosses [on Sunday], lots of balls into the box.

“But he was very clean. You always want keepers to catch but if they can’t then there’s lot of distance on it. He did that very well more than a few times.

“It was another clean sheet for him and that was important.”

Whether Hart ultimately does move on or not at the end of the season remains to be seen, but if he does depart, Celtic would not only be losing a keeper who has shown he can still cut it at this level, but in Rodgers’ view, a hugely important voice in the changing room.

His influence has helped the Celtic manager to control the internal narrative within the club this term, when the outside narrative has often been negative.

“Joe’s a very experienced player,” he said.

But we control the voice of the team inside the changing room

That save he made against Gogic was unreal.

I have no idea when we play teams, they bust a nut to raise their game.

When they play the huns, they turn into a pub team.

Have you ever seen Gogic play that well before? He'll be invisible against the huns.

It's not because the huns are good or better than us. I've watched them. They're awful.

He’s been unreal for us recently, thank *. Overshadowed by the general drop in form but we’d be in a much worse position if not for him

Hart has been a target for the boo boys for much of the season. The facts are he hasn't done much wrong. He isn't at the top of his game due to his age now, but given where we were under Bain and Barkas, has given us a stability. I struggle to think of many occasions where he was directly at fault for a goal. Of course he could perhaps have done better at times but given his presence, which the players and managers have all commented on positively, then he has been a great addition.

His performances in recent games have arguably kept us both in the title race and the cup.

Not going to say he hasn't given me palpitations at times, and his flaps at some crosses are a worry but over the piece he has been great for us. I don't think he will be here next season but whoever we sign will have big shoes to fill.

In both derby matches this season I've felt we looked better than them.

He needs to cut out this punching when it’s easier to catch it. Been murder for it the last few months, but that one today was * laughable.

Arguably one of the most experienced keepers on the planet who is still playing, it honestly baffles me.

He has been good recently and I love him, but the punching is wild.

We lose today and against Hibs without him, and there's a good chance we're out the Scottish cup too.

Who'd of thought we'd be having him as our best player. Thank you Joe for keeping the head during this latest utter breakdown.

Credit where it's due (needless punch aside) he has delayed the inevitable for a few games now. Could do nothing at their goal with the schoolboy defending in front of him.

The amount of times he done his usual routine with the quick goal kick only to find it back at his feet 2 passes later

He’s kept us in games recently, and fair play to him for being the first guy out and facing the media, and owned up to whats not good enough, took ownership without sensationalism that will create headlines.

Career he’s had you expect that professionalism but after games like today, I always feel like its the captains job.

100% should be the captain. We always laugh when their captain hides after every defeat. I'd be inclined to drop ours and give Joe the band.

i dread to think what it would have been like trying to bed in a new keeper at this point
