Tomoki Iwata

I don't think he is brilliant as a 6 tbh, not in this team, he is good enough individually that we can put him anywhere in the midfield setup and he'll do a decent job, and he was really great in Ange's system, our whole midfield and fullback setup supported him to be the sort of deep sitting playmaker 6 and pull the strings. We get away with him in the 6 now because of the quality we're up against most weeks imo, I feel he has been getting exposed more defenisively since Rodgers came in and we've changed from Ange's tactics, when Iwata got his run he was making tackles and covering in a way that the rest of our midfield don't, no insult to them, it was just obvious that's his natural role and we looked better as a unit because of it.

 

Really good news if he's back in training. Where did you see the rumours?

Could even see CalMac filling in at LB and Iwata in midfield if we're really stuck.

 

No, cal is never to be played at left back again. iwata can go play LB, he did well enough at RB

 

Be unbelievable if our club actually went and bought a left back that could play there

 

CalMac's left footed - makes a big difference if you want your LB to go outside your winger and get crosses in.

 

Shocking state of affairs, but we've still got a league to win.

Versatile Japanese fringe man Tomoki Iwata is currently injured and Rodgers gave a brief update after being asked to deliver what his situation looks like at the moment.

Rodgers told the media: “He’s back in the training field but he’s not available to play so still waiting on that.”

 

Hopefully fit enough for half an hour at the weekend. Midfield could use a shake up.

Get him back in the team pronto. Release Cal to play further forward and shake up that current midfield trio that just doesn’t work

 

We need this man to come good, and soon. Been missing a physical presence at 6 for quite a while. He’s got a bit of ball in him too.

Really think he should be getting game time. Midfield falls out of the game far too often and think his presence would help.

 

Totally agree….It’s frightening how our midfield consistently collapse in the last twenty minutes of a game.

 

I will never understand how the manager seen how that game was going yesterday and thought Bernardo was the man for the job over Iwata

 

He's got to start next game surely..

 

Or how the * he thought keeping o'riley on the pitch was a good decision

I assumed when he shouted Bernardo round, during Orileys 10 minute pass the ball backward masterclass it was for him but nope

 

Needs to come into the midfield for the rest of the season.

 

Criminally underused in a team full of weaklings.

Apparently Rodgers and McGregor are super close and you often see them chatting tactics on the sidelines…

Why isn’t McGregor asking for help in there? He’s so exposed it’s unreal.
