off the top of my head, not clearing a ball when facing boruc allowing skacel to score in the 1-1 draw at parkhead. george burley was still hearts coach.

then later in the same same season when we lost 3-0 at tynecastle. he let bednar and skacel run away from him all game. his awareness was appalling, and it was a shocking defensive display.

    happy?

Still seen worse at RB though. Nakamura will testify to how good/average telfer was. Certainly not *.

Wilson would be my 1st choice RB if we weren't desperate for a LB :fear:

He's been very unlucky with injuries, but he's not injury prone.

I have mixed views on the board just now. I like:

Bringing in the young starlets and allowing them access to the first team this season - Crossas; Hutchinson; Kolo [wee * lad]; and the wee Irish fella. For forward planning this is great.

A great [I hope] CB in Big Loovens. I really do like Caldwell but spreading the stress with a third CH will help him.

Getting a hard stance with BoBo

Bringing back Malloney - took guts on both parties.

    Don't like:

Constant reference to economic climate when it comes to transfer dealings. They know about the situation and just have to get on with it. You telling me that there are no good players plying their trade in leagues that we have access to that we can afford? I don't think so.

Big mistakes with Bobo and Gravessen. Big Money and Big mistakes.

No strategic investment to offset the young lads being blooded. They need to have a balance between the demands of the presence and the vision of the future.

    In Conclusion
We seem to have a very limited scope of where we want to be in terms of footballing success. Millions to not guarantee success - just look at half of the diddies in the Premshit league. We just have to evolve beyond 'nae munnie - nae gid players!!! We have to chart our own future within the boundaries that we operate within out of choice.

Has anybody got the total money spent and received since the end of last season ??

We now have a minimum 15 million quid coming from CL money (and 250k per point gained).

Some people were behind the boss from the start and some weren't. I was.

Im behind the board 100% as well. They turned the club into a well-run BUSINESS, as well as being a well-run club.

nah i agree with gs.we have a good team before we made those signings
and now that we have signed them we are stronger now.but i still think he needs to go and get a LB not urgentley though cos doumbe/wilson can play that position aswell.

There's a reason for the lack of big signings and unfortunately they are all related to economic movements. Whether you like to believe it or not, Celtic is a company, were the board not to do the job they do we wouldn't have what starts we have, a wonderful stadium or the sponsorship deals etc. In regards to our transfers, we are in the midst of a bit of a recession and therefore the global transfers are a bit more sluggish. There's been a burst towards the end but its been too late for us because we have to wait for these deals to be done for our targets to become unsettled. Plus just remember, if we have a stellar season we make a few million pounds profit, teams in the EPL get given £45m just for being there. They won't have a higher operating expenditure than us so it a massive amount of free cash. Yet we are expected to create a squad capable of matching up with the top 4 in england, let alone the other 16 teams. In the end, i'm impressed with our board and delighted with our manager. We are a wonderful club that still does football the more traditional way, by developing talent not just spending a fortune.

you serious? we made a profit i think last two years, we still have debt.

our profit was less than what teams are paying for one big name player. Do you expect us to go buy a few of thiose and make a loss? that is not a sustainable position. you cannot run a football club which is making a loss, not for very long anyway. so all this analagies with FTSE and oh we'lre not trying to make money is pointless. we know we are not trying to make money, but we do need to make money to survive long term. Tell me where the money is to come from to buy these expensive players and still be able to run the club breaking even (or making profit in order to pay off the debt)

Strachan is speaking from his point of view. Lawwell is speaking from his.

Lawwell is trying to pull one of GS's main targets out of the fire but Strachan doesnt think he can do it in the time given.

Think it is absolute disgrace they way the board is behaving - remember we have New Labour in charge now at Parkhead - "spin" is the policy. There was never any realistic hope of them buying in the level of player needed to advance the club both at home and in Europe. The fans have been fed all sorts of stories to appease them but the truth is, once again, we have been deceived by the men in suits. I don't see WGS hanging around after the European campaign is over. He's achieved so much and doesn't deserve this treatment.
It's time the fans got the message to the board - spend the money or resign!!!!

That's just not true. Most EPL clubs, and some Championship clubs, pay bigger wages than us so their operating costs are higher.
