I’ve criticised him at times but it’s not his fault we’ve had to rely on him at times when he’s coming to the end of his career.

All in all, he’s had a great career and he’s still young and fit enough to go and play consistently for a few years elsewhere.

I get players hang around for money even when they don’t get game time but he should be set for life financially. Why would you rot on a bench when you could be out there playing and making the most of your final years in the game.

David Turnbull appears to be on his way to the Cardiff City Stadium - but it looks like James Forrest WON'T be joining him in Wales.

Reports elsewhere have claimed the Hoops winger could be joining Turnbull in the Welsh capital.

But SunSport understands that as things stand the veteran Scotland striker won't be travelling down to join the Bluebirds.

He has 18 months remaining on his current deal at the Hoops

 

He's obviously past his prime, but he's only 32. Football-wise, I still consider him a useful squad player. I actually hope he stays and retires a Celtic.

Celtic star James Forrest was wanted by several clubs on deadline day but rejected a move, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed the 32-year-old rebuffed six offers on Thursday (1 February) – choosing to remain at Parkhead



A well-placed source has told Football Insider that most of those six proposals came from clubs in the English Championship.

Forrest is ready to stay at Celtic despite not being in favour under Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers.

He has made 18 appearances totalling 418 minutes of action so far in the 2023-24 campaign, scoring twice.

However, the winger has not played since 23 December and was left out of the squad for each of the last three Scottish Premiership games


Tne Scotland international is out of contract at Parkhead until June 2025.

He came through the ranks at Celtic and has gone on to make 483 appearances for the club, notching 104 goals and 101 assists.

Forrest has won 22 trophies during his time with the Hoops.

He has been displaced in the club’s pecking order by the likes of Luis Palma, Daizen Maeda and Liel Abada.

 

Me personally, will always have jimmy forrest as being a modern day Celtic great. Far too many people quick to forget what the wee mans gave this club.
