Ben Siegrist looks set to stay at Celtic this month.

The goalkeeper, 32, has not featured for the Hoops at all this season with his last outing for the club coming in October 2022 against Motherwell in a 4-0 win. A loan move to Sturm Graz looked nailed on earlier this window but that collapsed when the Austrian giants opted to move for Liverpool stopper Vitezslav Jaros instead.



That left Siegrist, the club and his representatives clamouring to find the player a move before the end of the transfer window which slams shut tonight at 11.30pm. Now Football Scotland understands that, while there was interest in the player, no suitable parties came forward with a proposal and now Celts have opted to keep hold of him until the summer unless something dramatic happens tonight..



He still under contract until 2026 therefore either a loan or a fee would be due to the Scottish giants to get rid.

Aberdeen are considering a summer move for Celtic keeper Benjy Siegrist.

The Dons No. 1 Kelle Roos is out of contract at the end of the season and has still to commit to a new deal. The Pittodrie recruitment team is covering all bases and looking at alternative options should Roos decide to move on and Record Sport understands Celtic keeper Siegrist is on a shortlist of potential summer options.


The Aberdeen board are looking for a long-term manager whilst an on-going external review of the running of the Pittodrie club is being carried out. Neil Warnock has been put in interim charge for the season but director of football Steven Gunn and his new head of recruitment Chris Badlan are both continuing work on player options and targets. Aberdeen also have Ross Doohan, who made his debut in the Scottish Cup win over Bonnyrigg Rose, but will want to run with another experienced keeper if Roos moves on



Roos, who moved from Derby in the summer of 2022, has always said he enjoys Aberdeen but he has been non-committal in terms of agreeing an extension and that has cast doubt over his long-term future. Siegrist was a standout in Scotland in his previous time at Dundee United


The Swiss keeper’s performances at Tannadice won him a move to Celtic in 2022. The 32-year-old, however, has struggled to get the game time he had hoped for, with Joe Hart and Scott Bain both above him in the pecking order. He saw a loan move to Austrian club Sturm Graz collapse in January. Siegrist still has another three years left on his Celtic contract but is keen to get back playing

Had a chuckle when he came out to get his medal last Saturday and he'd actually taken his tracky off. First time that's happened in quite a while.
