The biggest issue is that a lot of people did not associate the trouble with simply Rangers Football Club. The general consensus from a lot of people down here was that it was typical Scottish behaviour, or typical Glaswegians. Don't shoot the messenger here but if I had a pound for everyone who said "have you ever been to Glasgow, what did you expect?", then I'd be a rich man.

The police will see Celtic and Rangers as one and the same and, to be fair, Celtic fans covered Manchester with vomit and filled the air with IRA songs at the site of the Manchester bomb at Ryan Giggs Testimonial in 2001 and that will still be remembered by a constabulory that does have a tendency to be a bit on the naughty side themselves. There might have been no fighting, bottle throwing or that business but some of the behaviour from Celtic fans was pretty appalling that day and singing songs about terrorists who may well have killed the family members or friends of the police officers on duty is not going to endear anyone to anyone. People have to accept that, in England, this is not big nor is it clever, but hundreds will do it and that is what the abiding memory will be.

Unfortunately, the world outside of us who know better, see Celtic and Rangers as a joint problem, on the hooligan front, and the fact that Celtic fans behaved impeccably in Seville is unlikely to cut any ice with the boys that wear lime green down here. Their treatment of City fans in their own city is at best contemptable, so they are not going to hold out any olive branches for Glaswegians, at this time, I can assure you.

Suppose everybody is entitlted to their own opinion. Not every United fan will like Celtic, and vice-versa, in fact I know there are a lot on here who hate United.

I think a lot of those who dislike Celtic do so because Celtic seem to have a decent relationship with Liverpool, much like United and Celtic used to.
Obviously, we don't like Liverpool, in the same way Celtic don't like Rangers.

It all sounds a bit petty, but the United - Liverpool rivalry seems to be getting worse by the year. I suppose some see it as siding with the enemy makes you the enemy as well.

Not all fans are like that though. Afterall, as I have said before, Manchester has always had a large Irish population and Celtic are well represented in the City.

United have a big fanbase, so it is inevitable that supporters have different opinions on things.

I can assure you though, just because a few people have decided to have a pop at Celtic on a message board, it doesn't mean their sentiments are shared by everybody.

I'll be at Celtic Park on 5th November, hopefully I live to see 6th November:84:

i frequent the railyway bar when i go to man united games (where most of the casuals hang about) and the general feeling is that the only away fans better than ours are indeed celtic fans, and would rather welcome the party atmosphere. unfortunately, a lot will depend on the way the game is policed. you know what its like, police are strict, fans get aggrovated and it ends up causin a wee bit of bother.

I will be honest what i have heard is utd fans are not that keen on Celtic after songs were sung near the Arndale about the Ira at the Giggs testimonial. .
This was a silly thing to do as befor this there was never any problem in Manchester.

4 of us are sat in the home end so i hope it is ok for us.

I think it would be great to have a huge banner apologising to the people of Manchester for Scotland's shame.

a wonder how many will actually be from Manchester at the game  the prawn sandwich's will be well and truly out. Lets go down and just be brilliant and sing like we know we can sing, because not even 70,000 create an atmosphere compared to us :50: YNWA the first song to be sung i hope :celt_2:
