Is wrong from the top to bottom right now, after last two seasons where it’s been the peak example of what it should be, it’s very sobering.

From top to bottom, we have an arrogance that we don’t deserve, that we don’t put the work in to back up.

Ironically one of Rodgers favourite words.

How else to explain that we won an European game with no pressure, but folded when we had to win for points?

I thought that Hibs result would have been our turnaround, just dropped points at Motherwell and struggled at St Johnstone, so we go out and absolutely pump Hibs, it was 4-1 going on 8-1.

Weekend comes and Killie absolutely ragdoll us, has to be one of the most embarrassing half's of football we've had in the last 15 years, they were, by far, the better team.

Beat Feyenoord mid-week to end our 10 year Home record in the CL, things start to look up again, then Hearts, who are woefully out of form themselves and have an abysmal manager, come to Celtic park and make it look easy, we had maybe 3 chances in the entire match to score, yet I never felt like we were ever going to properly threaten them.

Doesn't matter who we face, and where, I honestly think there's a good chance we drop points. Livingston at home next week, who are also in dire form, so no doubt they'll get something.

Didn't see much arrogance today. That would have been an improvement on how the team played today.

CCV, Ralston and maybe McGregor where the only players who showed anything like the right mentality today I'd say.

Embarrassing to see certain players towards the end of the first half in particular, just counting down the seconds to half time doing everything to avoid receiving the ball

Probable not a popular opinion but the asian players are not suited to our league. We need players who are skillfull but also strong and agressive and they are just to nice.
Justlook at kyogo when he gets into a rough tackle hes smiling and picking up players,oh is a big lad but hes soft.

I like these guys but they lack the agression we need in the team,we are getting bullied on the park and need players to bite back.I think if we had other players who were stronger we could get away with playing the asian guys but we dont and i think it weakens us as a team.

Sheer arrogance for me today, we thought we could just go out there and not work to win, we approached that game like we had a divine right to not be beaten and couldn’t cope when that was shoved straight back in our faces.

Has something happened behind the scenes since Athletico Madrid at home? We were outstanding in a majority of that game outplayed them and unlucky not to win, then we went to Hearts and demolished them, prob the best i saw them this season.....its totally fell apart.

Nobody was saying that about them last year or the year before were they. Kyogo is more than good enough for the SPFL, helping up guys on the deck or no.

Maeda isn’t soft, Oh wasn’t being labelled soft a couple weeks ago when he was shoulder barging * away to * to slot away a goal. Hatate can be a right huffy wee *, and quite sneaky at times when its not going his way which largely goes unnoticed because of the class he has as a player.

It’s not their forte definitely, and having guys in there with an edge and a passion for the physical side is something I do want us to improve on as well but it’s not that, but that is sort of reasons why I adore Tony Ralston, I loved Barry Robson and Scott Brown’s probably my favourite ever Celtic play if we put Larsson aside.

Funny thing is, AJ showed that in droves last year, not so much this year. Again, the mentality isn’t bred out there on the pitch, it comes from the day in and day out stuff, and takes on the shape of the guy who’s forming that - mainly it’s down to Rodgers that.

I wonder how he approaches it, he strikes me as a micromanaging sort. And after the freedom under Ange, with his hands off guidance approach, I wonder how jarring that is.

Ange famously didn’t ever go into the players dressing room in training - labelling it McGregor and the players domain. It’s a very small thing but I can’t imagine BR giving that sort of freedom to a squad.

And I may be totally wrong in that assumption but that’s the major issue for me, the players don’t have a freedom to work outwith the tactical setup they’re set out there to do.

I hate comparing previous managers because everybody’s different, different approaches and personality is a major factor in if the exact same style can work for one or another. Ange gave the freedom and protected his players when that onus on them to play positively and spontaneously went wrong. Due to that, it rarely actually went properly wrong, fast forward to now, we play with a cageyness and rigid approach, and the players will always go for the safe option, won’t take any chances. And that’s down to a manager not letting them.

Too many people in the starting 11 that don’t know what it really means to be a Celtic player and the weight of expectation that comes with that.

Epitomised, ironically, by one of the guys that’s been about the club for several years in Mikey Johnstone. His gutless display indicative of a team who’s mentality is nowhere near good enough.

Who’s that aimed at? I didn’t get that feeling from them, more going through the motions and not taking a chance to actually do something.

McGregor at one point, and O’Riley as well, were the angriest and most scunnered I’ve seen them. Well O’Riley the most, Calmac the Covid season when he resorted to trying to do every players job and wound up doing nothing due to it was more scunnered the . But he showed it visibly today.

Mikey seems to be getting the blame off a lot of guys, for the most gutless part of the game, he wasn’t even on the pitch. That 2nd half epitomised the problems, saying that the likes of Palma being subbed for Bernabei when a couple weeks ago Ralston was trusted at LB before him almost feels like Rodgers is spitefully trying to prove a point.

And it’s not the first time I’ve felt that way with him, MJ uptop used as a target man several times against Rangers his first stint - one of them explained away with Eddy only had 60 minutes in him - with Eddy playing 20 minutes late on that game.

Followed by a public complaint about needing backed.

Don’t know if it’s just that I’m seething just now and trying to find a coherent explanation for that sub, or if it’s a genuine possibility

Squad is pish. Let's be honest. Can talk about "potential" in some players all you want but it's not good enough. Too many players nowhere near it.

Rodgers mentioned the mentality in his interview. He isn't blameless but for me he's only a small part of the problem.

Replace him and the same problems persist.

For me, Rodgers was the perfect guy at the right time in his first stint at the club. The football was fresh and not something the game here was used to. It moved on and we should never have been trying to play the same trick twice with Rodgers. In defence of Rodgers, i'd argue this team isn't really built for the way he wants to play either, but we had an opportunity in the Summer to fix a lot of that and * it.

Read the tread title, its my opinion with regards to the mentality of the team.

I have other opinions on other areas of our game that i believe contribute to our problems aswell.

It does seem like they are just going through the motions right now instead of really trying to make it happen. Disappointing considering this teams mentality was to look to score up to the last kick of the ball under Ange. Hopefully Maeda coming back can have a positive impact on the rest of them.
