Good to see him contribute offensively.

Wish Rodgers would play him more advanced.

Love this vid of him while at Notts County. Can see how well he can play as a more attacking midfielder.

Like the rest of the team I thought he was quite poor first half but major props to him for how he came out second half with a real fire up his *. We all know he’s capable of it and I hope he keeps that intensity up, real captains mentality second half, grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck and leading by example to the other players. Great goal which we needed.

Exactly why we have always needed him up the top end of the pitch for us. How talented he is as a footballer has been a detriment to him positionally as we’ve played him deeper cos we don’t have the quality to replace him there

Already looking more energetic, more creative and generally just better being further up the park.

Just feels like the shackles are off him when he has someone behind him, helps when it’s someone who is as positionally switched on as Iwata is.

Don't want to see iwata dropped and calmac back in the 6 role once hatate is fit, it worked in Ange's system because the inverted fbs gave us more cover in the middle but he's not a dm in this team.

Was a certainty he was gonna be on it tonight. He's got an abundance of character and determination so a man like that, especially with a different role in the team to what he's used to, is always gonna step up.

Good man management from Rodgers btw, noticed that Cal needed something fresh to think about. Delighted with how it worked out.

He actually looks like a striker at points, with his patience in the box as well.
Man City's Jack Grealish was there too at the time, you can spot him now and then in that footage.

They were at CM together, by all accounts a very attacking midfield with not much defensive thought to it :56:

I still think the 9 in a row season him attacking from CM as an 8 is his best season. Was on 14 goals looking unstoppable when the season got called early

I’m his biggest supporter, but his failure to track that runner for their second goal was disgraceful.

I think he was intending to play him offside. It would have worked as well if Phillips hadn't been about 2 metres deeper than the entire rest of the defence playing anyone and everyone on.
