Tbf I knew you'd still be a big fan of his.

Getting the impression you struggle to see any criticism directed towards the club. Can't see a negative word directed at the board. Creating attention seeking threads to have a go at fans who are capable of removing the green tinted specs.

    All quite sad.

He remains the only manager to do that since WGS. His stats are much better than people remember too. For example, in his treble-winning season. He not only won a treble and won his EL group but also had the 2nd highest average points per league game since Martin O'Neil (bettered only by Rodgers' "invincibles" team).

I'm not arguing that he is as good a manager as Ange or even Rodgers, clearly he isn't; but they are world-class managers who have worked in the top half of the EPL. I'm not arguing that his last season was acceptable either, clearly it wasn't. But overall he's a good manager who did a very good job for us every season bar one.

Those who want to judge him on that last season are amazingly harsh IMHO. Lots of people struggled with their mental health that season, for obvious reasons.

I respect your POV on the first point, although personally I think it was Lawwell's responsibility to sack him late autumn and he bottled it.

The second point, with all due respect, it wasn't him who turned on us. Anyone who doubts this only needs to go back and look at some of the threads on here.

My biggest issue with him was how, even months after he’d left, he was still wheeling out the excuses. Nobody needed to hear it and no one was going to be convinced. I think he genuinely believed what he was saying but he should have just kept it to himself.

Before that I had a little bit more sympathy for him. At the time the ten in a row season was going horrendously and ge was still in the job, he should have been sacked before Christmas when it became evident things just weren’t right and we needed something fresh.

From his point of view though, he’d been massively successful as a player and a manager. I think if I had won countless trophies for the club, a treble in my previous season, played in a European final etc, I think I’d probably be more likely to think the performances were being influenced by the pandemic than by myself too. There’s no denying it was a bit of a freak season where plenty of big teams went to *.

I think the people that claim they would have walked in his shoes, with his previous levels of success, whilst throwing away the compensation package, are full of complete * as well tbh.

I’ve always found it difficult to dislike him, even after the Covid season shambles, but thought his comments on Sky today, especially at half time, were shameful.

There was no half time analysis mate, can’t even remember them showing Bernardo’s screamer. It was just sheer outrage that the huns hadn’t been given a penalty, including from Lennon who backed Boyd up to the hilt.

Ahh...Guess I'm in the minority here then.. but I can never hate the bloke...in fact, I still like the bloke...

Look we've all been dumb arsed tarts in life (I effing have) but his contribution to this club over the years has earned a pass from me...I've made some effing BIG mistakes in my life and I've needed people to forgive me to move on..which is why I won't be hard on NL (until he goes rogue)..

TV comms means nothing to me.

Each to their own...but I'd still have him as Ireland manager..as man alive..we're dire.
