Well if there is to be and end game here they both have to live and accept each other.

I saw a video of a woman being dragged through the streets and was being spat on and abused by what looked like ordinary Palestine's ...Hamas have already stated their only end game is to destroy Israel, so they have to be gone.

Just makes me think how much support they have within the ordinary Palestine people.

Sad to say, but there will never be peace there. Any ordinary Palestinian that wants a two state solution can’t really support it out of fear of Hamas.

The Hamas leader has already come out and stated that there will be more October 7ths. They view anyone residing in Israel as an illegal settler and therefore a legitimate target whether that be soldiers, your granny, or your pet Labrador.

If you could look 200 years in to the future, the situation there will not have changed. Probably worse as the current bombardment of the civilian population will just be breeding a brand new generation of hatred, and on and on it goes.

I reckon it's more likely Israel will have wiped them out in 200 years, rather than the status quo.

    Aye.

It’s sickening. I’ve tried to just tune out of it to be honest. It’s really not good for my mental health.

I got involved in it last week and got caught up with what’s been happening, and you end up just sad at the state of humanity, and was on a downer for a few days.

Best just to avoid things that you can’t control sometimes, as dismissive as that sounds.

I reckon it's what they are doing right now.
They will flatten Gaza so it uninhabitable then rebuild it when they secure it.

Again! I'm not teaching no one to hate anything. I will teach them our history. As someone posted , your turning this into a silly academic argument which is ridiculous IMO. I think weve debated enough on this matter TBH. I can't input anymore other than leave you with this link below.

And for anyone who is thick enough to wear that poppy or respect the minutes silence for Brits in all wars, then the next time don't embarrass yourselves to sing this song at parkhead ever again while the rest of us proudly sing it in remembrance of him!

I wonder if you read my reply to that person. This was never academic for me. I felt it was something important that I wanted to say. I have a kind of vision in mind (which might be wrong, but it's what I see, at least for now) of how this kind of evil perpetuates itself. The way I see it, it doesn't have sides, it moves about to follow wherever the power is and looks for ways to rekindle itself.

Anyway, it's clear that we will never agree just from these exchanges. Perhaps another day. FWIW, there's a lot in what you said that was true and worth saying, I only disagree with the things I explicitly argued against, so I'd say I agree with quite a lot of it. That's a good note to leave it on.

Probably quite a lot of support now is my guess, but it is just a guess based on how I'd feel in their situation. Before all this, I believe they weren't very popular as a percentage of the population.

I think that's quite unlikely. I think that it's much more likely Israel will not exist than the Palestinians and I don't think it will take 200 years.

Really, Israel has always been in a race against time to secure itself before US power declines in some way (whether that's a civil war, the rise of China or India or just a period of isolationism or the demographic changes in the US ending US support for Israel as older people die) and they're almost back to square one now.

I actually think Netanyahu's response to what Hamas did makes the end of Israel in our lifetimes a genuine possibility.

    Same as me tbh.

Ive certain "issues" with keeping my mouth shut, and a real propensity to get upset by things happening in the world.
I even applied/ volunteered to teach English in Gaza city about a decade ago until my family talked me out of it. They knew I'd be in trouble over there after a week ffs.

Ppl keep trying to drag me into conversations about the "war" right now and I'm telling them straight up, don't wanna talk about it. It's literally just to keep my own mental health as even as possible. I work with a morrocan guy right now who has family in Palestine, and you can see the * anguish on his face.

Doesn't help coming on here and reading all manner of pish posted by internet experts on the "realities" of Ireland and Middle east.

Best to try to "ignore" it. Ppl are *. Plain and simple.

UEFA takes no action over Palestine displays at Celtic Park for Atletico match

Ahead of the match Celtic issued a statement urging fans not to bring flags, banners or emblems relating to the war in the Middle East with Palestine under attack round the clock from Israel.

Thousands of supporters ignored that statement with images from the stadium going viral with the distinctive green, white and red flag prominent.

With 25m Twitter followers Mesut Ozil shared his respect for the fans that brought the plight the Palestinian people to a global audience.

Before and after the match it was expected that UEFA would fine Celtic with some howling about a partial stadium closure as a follow up to a fine in 2016 after Palestine flags were on display for the match against Hapoel Be’er Sheva.

One month of from the match against Atletico UEFA dished out their latest round of punishments with no mention of Celtic.

Disciplinary action on six matches was announced on November 6, yesterday a further six matches were judged on by UEFA,s Disciplinary Committee with no mention of either Celtic match against Atletico.

Next week Celtic are away to Lazio with a ticket allocation of 3,600, about one third of the number of fans that were in the Olimpico Stadium in 2019 for a Europa League tie.
