Not sure what a winger who can't run or take on his man brings to the side.

Utterly depressing whenever he comes on.

He was done 2 years ago when Ange came in, the fact he's still getting games for us is abysmal.

He's still gettiing game time purely for his experience and goal threat. And what do you know, he almost got the winner.

No problem with him getting minutes myself.

He always does alright when he comes on, he’s not the problem but he shouldn’t be being as relied on as he is to make a match winning contribution at this stage.

I really do think that James level is now Ayr utd, he has been a great player for us but he is no longer Celtic level, no point in being sentimental and * knows why they offered him that deal but enough is enough and the team must improve, James is not the player to lead that improvement.

Palma, Maeda, Forrest and Abada all struggle to beat their man 1v1.

This badly needs addressed in January. A Celtic team should always have a winger who can drive and beat players for fun. This current side has none.

It shows more of the lack of quality on the bench than James Forrest’s ability at this stage in his career.

He should be coming on to see games out to rest guys, not coming on to rescue us and dig us out a hole. He's never really made an impact from the bench his whole career here, he's a guy who holds the ball well and links play but not someone to come on and beat guys and run in behind or score a goal really.

It shows more that we have not 1 but 2 * useless lawells at the club.

2 wingers signed this summer and both are behind Forrest and Johnston

It’s farcical that he’s a regular sub for us in 2023. 32 and done next to nothing in about 3 years.

SOME say James Forrest’s best days are behind him.

But so too were the rest of the Celtic squad last week when they did a sprint test.

Forrest may be 32 and nearer the end of his career than the beginning.

But boss Brendan Rodgers watched him outstrip jet-heeled Daizen Maeda, which only confirmed to him the Scot still has a big part to play this season and beyond.

That’s why, when he looks to move players on in January, Forrest won’t be one of them.

Rodgers said: “Even at 32 he’s still our quickest winger.

“We did tests the other week and James is still my quickest winger.

“He’s up there with Daizen, believe it or not, in terms of sheer speed.

“He might not be able to do it as much, or for prolonged periods of the game, but his actual football is still outstanding and he can definitely come into the team and impact the game.

“I think every game he’s had he’s been able to do that, whether he’s started or come off the bench.

“He could have got the winner for us at the weekend.

“Listen, we understand the modern world and the want for shiny new things.

“But I’m not going to throw guys to the garbage who I know are still very, very good players and who can make an impact for us.

“James came in and did really well.” Rodgers has decided who he wants to keep at the club and who he wants to move on.

For some players their time at the club is nearing an end.

But for others, there is still a chance to prove they have a future.

I don’t feel Forrest has ever really recovered after the run of injuries he had when Ange first came in. Ever since he came back in to the team after that he had looked far slower and less effective.

He is very safe on the ball and slows down our attack. The fact he is coming in before the new guys signed really speaks volumes for how poor the others have looked.

How we have went from being able to move on most of our deadwood minus Johnston, Turnbull and McCarthy to ending up with so much more is unbelievable. By the sounds of it Rodgers doesn’t really rate most of those being brought in and he wants to trim the squad but will surely also want to bring players in.

To have to shift 8-11 players on loan or permanently after letting 9 go permanently and more temporarily in the summer is mental.

Baffling from Rodgers. What the *? He could have got the winner, aye but he didn’t and he’s simple not good enough.

This is when Rodgers * * me off.

There is absolutely no chance that wee Jimmy now keeps up with Daizen in a foot race, over any distance.

Disregarding the fact he’s now rarely willing to use it, we’ve seen him seriously toil to get back defensively against opponents where before he would have no problem. He’s lost a yard of pace, nae arguments.

Regardless of what he does or doesn’t do in that second half, it’s * criminal that he’s still employed by the club.

Even more embarrassing that he’s starting important matches for us. It’s 2023 for * sake. He’s been done for years.

Really hope he doesn't become a blindspot for Rodgers based on his previous stint here, he's just not a player to be relied on anymore.
