It's still a month from the start of the AL so there wouldn't be much coverage. But you're right - it is sad, and no doubt part of teh reason Ange left - to go and experience deeply immersive football culture.

I just saw this on my YouTube feed. He proved me wrong much sooner than I could have anticipated. What a brilliant thing to say with no particular reason to do so other than it being what he thinks.

RR mate, you’re a bonkers man. This one has a lot more reason for him to talk about us in glowing terms due to being up for an award for his work here than last one you wanted to pick holes in where he just explains his feelings for the club :56:

It's in the details of what he said though. Sure, he's hardly just going to say, "It was me. It was all me. I'm the best." I would fully expect him to thank Desmond, Nicholson, McKay, Kennedy, Strachan, etc; but here was a lot he didn't need to say.

The parts in bold didn't need to be said.

Firstly, he didn't need to mention the fans. Most people outside Celtic and (even some at Celtic) wouldn't have necessarily thought the fans had much to do with his achievements, he wouldn't have burned any bridges or annoyed anyone or come across as ungrateful or egotistical in any way if he hadn't mentioned us.

Secondly, he didn't need to mention the part about achievements getting diminished. Yes, he had to nod at Celtic being a "great club"; but he didn't have make that point. I suppose some people could argue that he bigs up his own achievements by doing that and curries favour with the fans; but I've never thought he was that kind of person.

I suppose that if there is anyone who does think he's that kind of person, the kind of person who wants to inflate his former achievements and curry favour with fans of former clubs, then these quotes wouldn't change anything (for example, these quotes would mean very little to me if they came from Rodgers, because he is that sort of person); but that person isn't me.

In the previous quotes people brought up, he only said what I would have expected him to say in response to a direct question. So for me, this is different.

Mate what are you on about? People definitely do look down on the Scottish league achievements. It's one of the first things they said about Ange before he went to Tottenham, he's only done it in Scotland, my nan could've won it etc. I don't think you'd be satisfied with any hypothetical response he had :giggle1:

    Where did I say otherwise?
What makes you think I'm not satisfied with his response?

My post will make more sense if you read it in the context of my posts over the last few pages, mate.

    I get this fully.

But it's spurs and the EPL. I just can't.

Watched the end of the game and Spurs fans absolutely love him already. What a finish tho seems they deserved it.

Forever a Legend in my books.
I hope he achieves real greatness in this business of football.

Will always be grateful for what he did to Celtic, digging us out of a huge hole and in some incredible style.
Try to imagine what it would be if Boyd's and other's predictions came true:
