Because it's only if the keeper is out for 30 days you can bring in another keeper.

Third keeper might also be association/club trained.

For those asking questions this might make it easier to see why the squad is as it is.

If you wanted someone else in you've got to swap them for one of the guys that don't fall under Celtic or association trained.

If we wanted more than 2 CBs for the first two games had to leave one of CCV/Nawrocki out.

Iwata seeing as he's not played is the only surprise for me. Bernabei doesn't replace anyone else in the squad for me.

Iwata isn't a surprise due to his versatility..

Can play as an 8 or 6, right back or wing back and even fill in at centre half..

When you're having to juggle the squad with numbers, that kinda versatility is invaluable..

Remember Hatate can play in both full back roles also...

Was more that Rodgers hasn't picked him at all.

I'd have had him in the squad.

If Taylor gets injured and we do switch formation to a 3, who is the wingback exactly?

Would we maybe go Johnston or Ralston LB if Taylor out?

We look weaker than under Ange, hate our boards need to keep the huns relevant, no other explanation for hamstringing rodgers

Would like to see Maeda at LB honestly, might sound mental but he has surprisingly good defensive awareness for a Winger

Needs tested domestically. Maeda could theoretically work with his pace and energy.

We'd be much more suited to playing similar shape to city and going 3241 with out and out wingers.

Let's be honest Taylor is never a wing back anyway. Has absolutely * all attacking ability

    No for me mate..

He's good at pressing and hassling but I've noticed before that he's no a particularly good tackler when facing someone up....plus he's an attacker first and foremost..

Wingback still gives him that license and a bit of protection behind him..

Reckon Nawrocki will be out until November now.

Hoping he's fit and firing for the next Glasgow derby. That's what he should be aiming for.

I remember Scales having experience at LWB for Shamrock Rovers in Champions League qualifiers, just checked his stats at Transfermarkt and they have him as LM in those games, so it appears as though he played in a 352 as the LWB. So he definitely becomes an option as a LCB, LB, LWB/LM, making him fairly versatile on that left side.

The fact that BR plays a more traditional set up will help Scales because of his inexperience from taking the professional game up late.

Can only register 17 foreign players, kinda shows we can't really replace Taylor, Bernabei and Hart with non Scottish players without someone in the champions league squad losing their place

It's why I think guys like Taylor, Ralston, Welsh, Turnbull and even though they didn't make the squad, scales and Johnston are worth keeping until we find better Scottish players

In my view, there's a glaring hole in that squad in terms of left and right back.

Unless we've got some talented club-trained U21s I don't know about, we're lacking cover in those positions. The midfield is absolutely overloaded and we should 100% be dropping Holm or Iwata to take Bernabei. We're really rolling the dice not having sufficient cover in those areas.

Nah, not for me.. Holm and Iwata are definitely decent options.. really excited about Holm in particular..

Where as Bernabei is nowhere near good enough for us.. Taylor, Scales, Hatate or a change of shape to a 3/5 are all options before exposing Bernabei.. even the lad Frame may start to feature in squads..

Been said a million times tho, not strengthening at LB has been criminal.. as Taylor or Scales or an unfamiliar change of shape, is likely to be exposed there..

RB Johnston is more than capable and Ralston has rarely let us down.

Pretty mental we didn't address the LB position.
