Not Actually that Crucial a Summer as of August 2023...beginning to now think everything isnt fine!

I just sounds like they’re getting ready for the old, “We tried but poor us couldn’t get the deal done”.

 

Will get a good idea of what to expect with the Bernardo announcement time. If it’s before 6 I would expect 1 more. But if we leave it off until tonight then that’ll be it. We love a late deadline day announcement for a player that we all know is done ages before.

 

I still think we will get one or two deals in possibly city group loans as long as they improve LB

 

Expecting at least two in today, LB is a must.

 

The fact we are now 14 hours to window closes with no links of any substance has me accepting we are done after benfica lad

 

We signed anyone yet??

 

Just give me a quality LB and I’d be happy. I think we can manage in midfield once Hatate is back fit.

LB is the real killer with no power or pace offensively and it’s a weak spot defensively. Sort that position out and I feel we will look so much better overall as a team.

 

About 7 players so far I think.

Expecting Bernardo and a left back today. If we go into the season without having signed a left back and goalkeeper, it's a huge failure, there's no two ways about it. We all recognised those were the key positions needing improved.

 

8... 9 when Bernardo signs.

Kwon, Yang, Tilio, Holm, Phillips, Palma, Lagerbeilke, Nawrocki

Either way, very disappointing window for me.

 

Think Kwon is the only one am disappointed with myself. That solid, high level DM we're missing should have been secured instead of him.

The rest am very happy with. If we get an upgrade at LB and a big physical striker in today, I think it's been an excellent window. Fail on the LB upgrade and it'll be poor.

 

Do you think our starting 11 is stronger than it was in May? Not having a pop mate but I genuinely think that's a mental take if you do.

If we also fail to sign a GK and a LB today, we have left our two problem positions for half a season and that's not good enough. I could almost live without the striker, given we still have Kyogo and Oh should be back in the next month.

 

Hart no longer needs to pass no matter what. Since then he's more confident knowing he can punt it if need be. LB and a midfielder imo is priority.

 

What is the difference in putting any one of them up against a Kyogo, Hatate, Maeda, Abada, Oh, Jota even?

All unknown quantities before we bought them.

 

Think Jota is the one missing that makes us weaker on paper, but that's assuming Yang, Palma and Tilio aren't up to scratch. Actually think we're stronger overall on the wings, depth wise.

Definitely agree with the LB comment, GK not as much. Want an upgrade there but Joe will do a job till we find 'the one'.

 

I am willing to let it slide if we can sign at least one of either a LB or GK

I've held my own view that a GK should have been seen as priority last season so they can go into this season and start taking game time away from Hart. I would prefer that is dealt with first, if we are in a position of dealing with just one of those two.

If we get none of those but we still signing the lad from Benfica and whoever else, if there is anyone else that is... then I will disappointed given it would mean we become bloated with fringe players in areas that didn't need it.

 

Probably not, no. But then who is to say it won't be in 18 months time when you have Yang settled and Holm more experience?

 

If all we sign today is Bernardo whose highlights look pretty average and seems to be in empty stadiums - possibly even U23 games, my question to everyone who has been unhealthily getting angrier by the day this window is this: What are we going to do to show the club/board it is not good enough?

I actually know the answer: we'll post more on this forum. Nothing changes until the entire support acts en masse and empties the stadium and protests at the club's failures to improve. I know we just won the treble, but this Summer has been a complete return to biscuit tin normality. There is No desire to make us remotely competetive in Europe.

This will NEVER change with Lawell and Co in charge and coasting.
