I can only speak for myself but I think the negativity is a byproduct of the slow realisation that we have little intention of genuinely progressing as a football club.

When Ange was here there was a genuine sense of optimism that we were headed in the right direction. Ange alluded to making a dent and chipping away at European competitions. The football was great for the majority, our transfer business seemed more efficient, we bought and sold players much faster than in previous years. The success rate of his signings were high.

But even when he left, the belief that we were serious about progressing was still evident. We got Rodgers in quicky and it felt like we were ready to kick on again. There were rumours of breaking our transfer record multiple times. We had automatic CL qualification money (again), we had no qualifiers to contend with and so plenty of time for the club to prepare and sign players. Then in Rodgers' first press conference he echoed Ange's comments regarding European progression and kept praising the recruitment set-up. Everything seemed like it was on track.

Then Mooy retired and we sold Jota and Starfelt for good money. Since then it has all gone downhill. Our transfer business has been unfathomably slow. We still haven't replaced Jota (which is criminal in itself) nor have we addressed the positions we clearly needed upgrades on. Even going back to the end of last season, the majority of fans knew we needed replacements/competition in the GK, CM and LB positions. Heck, most of us even wanted upgrades on Abada and Maeda. Yang aside, we're now in a position whereby both are starting every week due to how poor the squad is. So are Hart, Taylor, Ralston and Turnbull. That's 6 players already that, at best, should be back ups.

Instead we've bloated the squad yet again with projects and young players. There's 3 days left and all of the positions that needed surgery have been totally ignored. Either that or our recruitment team have failed to do their job properly and now we're scrambling around for last minute deals and loans to appease the support. Sorry, not good enough. There's literally no excuse for how slow we've conducted our business. Incompetence or negligence, either way, it's totally unacceptable.

So yes, the reaction and feelings of negativity surrounding supporters just now is symptomatic the club's unwillingness to actually progress. The ball was entirely in their court. If there was ever a summer to kick on this was it - but no, we've reverted back to penny pinching and laziness. See the original post of this thread, it's * prophetic. The fact is we all had a sneaky feeling this would happen; the predictability of it makes your heart sink.

People do know what they're on about.

It's the 29th of August and our squad is a mess and weaker than last season. That's just an obvious fact. Trying to kid on it's nothing to panic about is nonsense. We're fast approaching European football and Scales and Taylor are part of our strongest defence. A geriatric Hart is in nets. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Thing is you could see what Ange was trying to do from very early on, you could see we were on the right track...

Not seeing any direction, yet under Rodgers, that's the worry!

Add this window which is looking like a shambles.

Think even the most optimistic of us, is finding it hard to look for the positives. Those who are naturally negative thrive at these times tho...

So folk hitting out with pish like 'Lawwell is trying to save a few quid by not signing any players, the board have no interest in success, we should sign 15 million pound players when we click our * fingers' are to be listened to?

Naw, most of you can discuss things sensibly which I've no problem with. I try no get involved in these big club-bashing discussions but do agree with a lot of what's said. Am talking about people just spouting absolute pish as fact, as if they are sitting in their own board room of their own worldwide football club getting every decision right, mocking our club for being * at their jobs. Half the * couldn't run a * bath yet they sit dishing out advice to people who have been in business their whole careers.

Taking longer than I'd hoped for the team to adapt to Rodgers' style, it's a tough watch the now but all it takes is that wee spark from a Kyogo or O'Riley etc to build confidence. Really hope it comes early doors on Sunday and we go on and shut every * up.

Last sentence is what angers me, not people venting frustration just ones who have not got a positive thought in their head. Get behind your * team man :31:

Is this fella for real? Talks about discussing things sensibly while 90% of his posts are abusing people with different opinions to him.

An absolute board fan boy. No wonder the board get away with so much when we have fans like this.

You told me the other day you thought the board was ambitious, when I asked for examples you insulted me and ran away:56:

Post after post of utter * drivel

    Insulted you and ran away.

Is thus when you asked for a single example of our board showing ambition, to which I replied with two examples (signing Jota and CCV on permanent deals), but somehow they two examples didn't count for whatever daft reason you came out with?

You are a clown mate, you've not got a clue.

Yes I still think we can do it before deadline day...but if not, Rodgers type of personality to let team lose 6-0 to prove a point to the board.

Not literally no I don't see a six-zero, but do I see him being stubborn on keeping players in as he is unwilling to try the backups he has. Perhaps those players will not be to his liking (or players he wanted to buy) and he's being passive aggressive by making a point of them not being dealt with in the transfer window etc...then yes, he will lose games on that basis and thus get the board his attention.

And so just make his second stint a complete failure and get sacked in his first season. Makes total sense.

Cannot believe the window is about to close, and we still have Greg Taylor as first choice LB.

Some all summer, has decided, Yup. He's good enough.

    Scunnered.

Just can’t get enough Depeche mode
    @Double Dutch

Do you think Hart, Taylor, Turnbull, Maeda ect are good enough to continue playing for Celtic let alone able adapt to Rodgers style? Or are you happy to go into next season playing them as largely first choice? Especially Europe where we did poorly under Ange with these players. We’ve got a * tonne of cash in the bank to push us on so absolutely no reason why we haven’t.

Obviously CCV and Hatate are a big loss and a contributing factor to our current run of form but even if they where fit and available there are still many other areas that definitely need strengthening.

Other than people repeating the same stuff over and over about us needing a keeper, CDM & left back ect i’m not really seeing anyone revelling in this

Since Ange left we have gone backwards, team are playing * and our dealing in the transfare window are a joke and as a fan iv lost confidence in our team.
Not sure if its coincidence or bad luck or what but Rodgers seems to have no control in whats going on or off the pitch where with Ange i always got the feeling he was in control of everything on and off the pitch and everyone listened to him.

Of the 4 players you mention, they've all shown they are good enough squad players. We need better as first team starters obviously, but I think Holm is seen as competition for Turnbull, and Palma as competition for Maeda.

Hart and GT have been big players for us, but obviously we need better to go up a level. They are the two positions i wanted in early doors but it's no happened for whatever reason. But they are all treble winners at the end of the day, the idea that they're all absolutely * is ridiculous.

Our form is down to not adapting to Rodgers' system yet, but we will in due course. They are all capable players and have proved as much many times.

CL is a totally different ball game. No arguments we need better players to push us on, but quality players are extremely difficult to secure. Not a popular opinion but it's a fact. Hence why our scouting has to be top drawer.

Your last point...there are plenty revelling in it. There are * who don't utter a word when things are going well, then appear to shout and bawl any time we hit a bump in the road. There are also plenty giving us zero chance against the huns on Sunday cos they've talkiled themselves into believing we're a shambles top to bottom.
