After the rangers games it's going to be toxic.

Depends on the result. TBH, they aren't doing great, either. Perhaps, under pressure to rectify that loss to Killie in the league, they rush crazily, and leave far too much space at the back, and our front 3 kill them on counters. I can honestly see that coming. Playing a high press is risky against a good side, and we are a top side in Scottish terms.

Don't worry. Even if they win you'll get people saying it doesn't matter because they dropped points at Killie. We'll still probably be top of the league and that's what the board (and fans) will look at as a measure of progress. But it's a coping mechanism and ignores the fact that we have the funds and facilities to bury them all together.

Being better than the huns will always be enough for the board and unfortunately the majority of fans. But I get crucified because instead of allowing us to be dragged down to their level, I want us to prioritise progression in Europe - which will make us stronger domestically anyway.

Talk of GG wanting back to a European league. We do miss the big man, but he didn't want to settle for second choice

I think it will be Toxic at the end of the window if we don’t add to the side.

Think it would be best for everyone if the forums shut for 48hrs after if we do lose :56:

Tbh think we could still beat them but that’s only because their pish atm doesn’t mean it will he all rosey again here after! Unless of course we see a good end to the window.

Do you? Their current team against our current team at Ibrox if we don't get the players in that we need? I won't be watching, that's for sure.

Yeah i do. Won’t be shocked if we got beat either. They always run us close there and are up for it even under our Ange side we only won 1 time I think and it was close. But like us they are worse than last season too. We will get a couple in we can’t not, they have probably done their business.

Yes I agree with that and I’m sure this was done, but I was more trying to get to the point that we may have approached players and even agreed costs but when the Agents and Lawyers get involved remember there will be 2/3 even as much as 4 sets of lawyers involved along with FA’s and there is Brexit in there somewhere also, it could be a line of red tape holding up things or it could lawyers squabbling over phrases and clauses or as the majority think we have no one set up to sign and we’re spanking away our advantage to have a better top line on the accounts

Who's crucified you for wanting us to be better in Europe?

The vast majority of us want the same thing. I don't think it's you on your own island shouting for something different mate let's be honest.

Well it is now 22nd and still no Juranovic level fullback signed.

The board are now entering into a very dangerous game with the time left to lift the atmosphere at the club.

I said we should revisit this after 15th August and well... now its the 22nd and it ain't looking amazing

I know the situation was very different when Ange arrived, basically being a full rebuild after a disastrous season with several players leaving, but thinking back to who we signed that first window - Kyogo, CCV, Starfelt, JJ, GG, Hart, Jota, Abada - that's a lot of key, impactful first team players right there.

There's still a bit of time to go in this window, but it's hard not to think that we could be missing a trick here in not building from a position of strength.

Logic would suggest that Sevco will have a bumpy start with all their new players before gradually improving as the season wears on, so if we'd managed to bring some quality signings in early to improve areas of the squad which have need bolstering for awhile, Rodgers could already have been working with said players and there'd be a better chance of us hitting the ground running and putting some early distance between us and them.

Injuries obviously haven't helped, but that makes it even more important to get quality in. Looking at the young players we've signed, there are a few there you'd question whether they're ready to provide satisfactory cover.

Maybe crucified was me being hyperbolic. But over the last month all I've had is that I'm being a negative so and so and that I shouldn't post on the forum because I'm not pretending that everything is sunshine and rainbows.

The only reason my posts are negative is because I desperately want us to expand beyond the fishbowl that is Glasgow. Whenever I offer an observation it's just me being realistic because the actions that are being taken by the club implies that they do not care about any sort of European progression or running a club like ours optimally.

For weeks I've stated that our squad isn't good enough and that we desperately need upgrades to have any hope in * of finishing 3rd place in the CL group stage. It feels like too many on here are living in a dream world and think that a few projects, punts and loans will be good enough to see us compete. If we couldn't compete last year we've no chance this time around.

Personally I don't believe Rodgers is the guy to help us advance in Europe based on his history in European competitions at previous clubs. But even if I'm wrong about that, the manner in which we've conducted our business suggests that he isn't even being given the tools in the first place.

With Ange I felt optimistic and some might call his thought processes delusional, but you could feel that he genuinely cared about us levelling up as a club. Despite bringing Rodgers back, the last 8 weeks have felt all too familiar in that it's been anything but ambitious.

I'm now at the stage where I'm thinking we've been trying to get a high caliber of footballer and it's not happening bcoz I just can't understand why we haven't brought in guys to take us to the next level. The year we lost the league to the Huns I thought this is that bad its almost deliberate..I'm not saying that things are anywhere near as bad now but something just isn't right.

Well, I'm sorry if I'm one of the ones that made you feel that way. I'm glad you post on here.

I still think you should judge the window when it closes, but I get where you're coming from.

I think you're misinterpreting people there, mate. I think everyone on here will be just as angry as you if this is what we have when the window closes. I just think it won't hurt to wait a week and see. Either we'll have got the players we need and you'll be happy, or we won't and we'll all agree, or we'll get some of what we need and then at least we'll have a better idea of exactly where we do and don't agree and can argue based on that.

Regarding tools, let's wait a week. Regarding Rodgers, again, I can see your point of view. Even here, I'd say we should let him build his team before we judge it. A lot of folk on here seem to have settled on Halloween and that seems as sensible a date as any.

Ange is very charismatic, definitely more so than Rodgers. Look at how a support at Spurs that have seen the likes of Conte, Pochettino and Mourinho are gaga over him. However, it's far too early to tell if he's actually a level above Rodgers as a coach. We'll see if he can match or better Rodgers' genuine achievements in the game.
