I'm backing Rodgers but I'm just refuting your suggestion (unless I've picked you up wrong) that today's result is something of a freak because McInness has made them better.

I'm not sure about that. I think we'll be seeing more of this going forward including at the other plastic monstrosity.

Aye I agree 100%, hate to use him as a comparison but after Lennon got papped out of Europe, he beat the huns at Ibrox and the mood changed.

Today has to be a major, major wake up call, sign a GK, LB and LW and start properly integrating the system.

The players need to shoulder a lot of the responsibility too. The only time any of them actually showed a bit of bravery against their press we got through them but * up the final pass.

All 3 of the midfielders were * terrible today, the back 4 nowhere near brave enough on the ball and until Yang came on the wingers completely non-existent.

If we use this as a firm boot up the * both on the park and off it then it won’t be the end of the world but it’s a huge disappointment. It’s glaringly obvious we need a winger, LB and GK who can instantly come in and improve the team, then we also need another striker to bulk up our options up there.

He needs to do something quickly. He’s been here far too long for us to look that confused.

Was the game plan today genuinely long balls into the corner for Maeda to chase? If it’s not why was Taylor doing that all game?

Done it over in Japan during pre season. Where 1 would invert and other would go wide. This then let 1 of the 2 sitting midfielders push on and play as a 2nd number 10.

Thought it looked good, and was clear to see the tactics.

    * knows what's happened to that or any other tactical ideas.

Currently the only tactic I can see is having our 34 goal striker drop deep into midfield and then playing long balls into that * bald dumplin on the wing. On the rare occasion it actually works we then have no 1 in the box to get on the end of his 1 in 100 good balls he puts in bcoz our striker has had to drop to the half way line to do the job of our slow, static midfield.

He’s been giving 5/6 guys he’s never heard off. Some will no doubt be brilliant for us but it’s time he was given some dosh to get his own in.

Rodgers getting his own guys in is even more worrying for me. He's demonstrably abysmal in the transfer market. So I'd rather stick with whoever is currently identifying our transfer targets and keep Rodgers far away from that side of things.

The clear issue we have is that we're seemingly only looking in the biscuit tin for unknown punts and young projects when we should be scouting aggressively for better players in the £6m-£12m range.

Every fan knew that this was needed but our board with their small time mentality of merely being better than a poor hun side is prevailing again. It's just the same old story we've all seen a million times over.

Everything Brendan Rodgers said to Viaplay following Celtic's 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock in the Viaplay Cup match at Rugby Park.

How much of a setback is today for you?

Well it’s a disappointment, there’s no doubt. I don’t think we did enough to win the game. We upped the level when we went behind but we didn’t show enough quality when we had the ball. The goal, we switch off from the throw-in, we don’t win our duels and they go through and score. It was a disappointing result for us. But give credit to Kilmarnock. They worked very hard, put the tackles in, put the blocks in and like I say, they win the game.

What’s the process for assessing the performance as a whole?

I always think when you lose any game you’ve got to give it 24 hours to grieve. We’ll go away, we’ll assess it. The key thing is about learning. This is a team that’s got a lot of new players in and people will look at it and say it’s the same squad, it’s not. It’s a different squad of players. But still, we should have more quality than what we showed today. We need to go away, review it, analyse it and look to our next game.

What is it that makes Rugby Park such a difficult venue?

The pitch. The pitch. There’s nothing else. You look to move the ball quickly and obviously, when you are playing against an opponent who are strong, quick, and can run, you need the ball to be able to move fast and clearly it wasn’t for us today. Still, I don’t want to make any excuses. It’s been a tough place to come. As I said, today we didn’t do enough.

Debut for Gustaf Lagerbiekle and full debut for Odin Holm, what did you make of their performances?

It’s a good eye-opener for them at this level. I thought Gustaf did well. He’s strong, he’s committed and he passes the ball well. He’s only in and I thought he was strong for us today. Odin is a boy that’s got talent. He’s a young player and this experience will be good for him.

Next ten days of the window. Do you need to add?

Yeah. I think it’s always been about quality, I’ve said that before. The team needs matchwinners, it needs quality. That’s something hopefully we can do.

There's no really such thing as a manager getting his own players though nowadays. For the most part.

Rodgers has already said it is Mark Lawwell leading that side. He will give him a tyoe of player he wants and lawwell will find it. Hopefully.

Rodgers issue last time was trusting congerton and Hammond.

It's in nobodies interest here for BR to fail but you can't not see the car crash coming mate. Nothing since he's came in has been reassuring.

There's a major difference in people being skeptical over him and calling him a Rat and a Snake.

    The latter us hun-like.

I think he’s now coached it out of them and we barely get any bodies in the box. Literally just ripped apart a winning recipe and * most of the teams confidence. Plenty of us saw it coming but didn’t think it would happen this quick.
