Drink driving and sleeping in are not the same thing ffs :giggle1: not even in the same realm when it comes to sackable offences. Stop linking the two.

Has that trial even happened btw?

Actually a worse case of it too. But he was forgiven cos he’s class, Bernabei hasn’t been cos he’s not class. Strange.

It's more to do with his apparent mentality, he just doesn't come across as very professional. And I've been defending the boy this whole time.

For all we know he's a deep sleeper, had a drippy tap and couldn't get to sleep, was up late fighting with an ex, or turned his alarm off by accident.

    He slept in.

Hardly deserving of all this "get rid" pap.

The drink driving thing seems to have been a case of "an idiot abroad" as in some countries it's absolutely tolerated and part of the culture.
I'm sure he's now fully aware of how serious it is now.

Also, he maybe very immature, but he's also a * child.

He's was late for the team meeting, didn't make the squad. That's it.

Let's put the knives away and see how he reacts, he had a decent pre season, and still absolutely loads of time for BR to develop him.

Are we forgetting how understanding Rogers apparently was about the "issues" Griff had?

Storm in a teacup. Completely normal practice for football at all levels.

See in all seriousness his Mrs hasn’t that long had a little one, if the baby is a horrible sleeper then it’s not beyond the realms of possibility he’s had a couple of long nights at home.

Not to mention over the last month he’s been back to Argentina and on a tour of Japan, you’ll struggle for two more extreme time zones to our own.

At the end of the day sleeping in, isn’t the big issue with Bernabei it’s he can’t defend.

From a football perspective, he’s not and never will be good enough. Can’t believe we spent so much on a guy that can’t defend and has zero positional sense. Who scouted him??? Get rid this window.

He shouldn't be punted because he slept in. He should be punted because he's not very good at defending.

Send him up to Barry Robson on loan. With two instructions...keep him in check and teach him to defend.

If he doesn't improve to a level to make our squad then we punt, either way already hes only worth half of what we invested.

If he has a solid season there but not the level we want we will still get back the 1.5m or so we will get now.

Theres no excuses to slow down the need to bring in a first choice left back.

    Completely agree

It's all about his reaction to this, you can bet Rodgers is keeping an eye on him to see how he does react to the consequences, rather than the actual incident itself being that dramatic.

Does Bernabéi keep his head down, apologies to the team and staff and get working hard in training with the mentoring of Rodgers? Then Rodgers may be the man to find the player that surely is in there.

Or does he come back in, acting a clown and flaunting his *? Then likely Rodgers will wash his hands and demand a new left back.

I'm easy either way, in Rodgers we trust.

But completely agree, for the incident itself, he slept in for * sake :56:

I've been in my job 7 months, since then my line manager has been off 'sick' 4 times, one senior 3 times, two seniors two times, one bloke 4 times and a few others twice. I've a 100% attendance record (eff knows why...I may join the sicky club soon as everyone else has mentally checked out) anyhoo..sleeping in (and not even taking the day off) is not sackable material..if that was the case, I'd be working with no one here!

Let's be honest... Which attitude is more dangerous?

An immature kid from a completely foreign culture , but looks delighted to play here, busts an absolute gut everytime he gets minutes, and has the humility to recognise he has a wonderful opportunity here. Has his family over all decked out in Celtic shirts there to support him, but made a boo boo by sleeping in...

    Or

A 25 year old from a completely different culture, who saunters about looking like a 5 year old who dropped all his sweets, apparently calling his agent everyday to get to the EPL , who has let reviews go to his head and is putting in subpar performances.

If Rodgers has an iota of sense, he'll know which one he can actually rely on to play for the shirt.

I'd have Hatate out of the squad before Bernabei at this point.

He just strikes me as one of those mental folk, good intentions and decent but just got nothing between his ears. No common sense and constantly forgetting things/making wee mistakes. Makes sense when you watch him play as well.
