Me too some tasty fixtures potential in the qualifiers if they do but knowing them it will be lucky ones again!

Hope huns don't qualify! Last season they were * lucky cos PSV were the better team than them but for some reasons the Dutch shat the bed.

if we draw an English team, I'm not sure who I would want. Maybe Man Utd as they can be erratic away from home? Saying that, they will probably improve their squad in the summer.

This seasons champions league will depend on how many upgrades to our team Ange can get in the door, first hour of our opening game against Madrid last season we competed with them, CalMac hitting the post from range that nearly gave us a deserved lead, then Madrids quality rose to the surface and they strolled the rest of the game, point I’m going round the houses to explain is that Ange knows what we need to compete and as he’s been more hit than miss with our transfers I’m hopeful for this season, although if we put on a good group but ended third, I’d take a shot at europa as I’ve been told this seasons final is in Dublin, now that could compete with our fans showing in Seville

Last season draw was decent but we failed. Hopefully another decent draw.

We’ve a good chance of getting a favourable team from pot 3 again. Shakhtar, Salzburg, Red star Belgrade all in pot 3, Dinamo Zagreb and Braga will be in pot 3 as well if they qualify. Nothing to fear from any of those teams.

Absolutely love European nights. Totally different atmosphere to domestic stuff. Hopefully a couple of decent results at home.

Too be honest and at present we have no chance getting second in the group stages but if we bring in a few quality players we might get third in the group.

Would rather we got 3rd this season than 2nd, would be brilliant to have the chance to dream of getting to a Europa league final in Dublin, or at least having a chance to win a knockout tie for the first time in 20 years. Getting to the last 16 and facing a Man City just to get thumped doesn’t appeal to me.

You are totally correct. Ive said this the past few times that we've been in the Champions League group stage. For us to finish 2nd.....and qualify.....would mean we were straight up against a Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern Munich type standard team. A top notch European side. Inevitably we'd lose and that would be the end of our campaign.

Whereas a third place finish would take is to the Europa League where teams are more on our level. We would be considered in the top half of those teams in that round of Europa League at least.

We'd also already have coined it in with our three high profile home games. We'd get the financial benefits of the Champions League but then also an actual chance to seriously compete in Europe in the Europa League. Its a win win situation

I also think we're due a kind draw in the Champions League for a change. You always get one group that avoids the absolute big guns and has 4 half decent teams in it that all have an almost equal chance of qualifying.
We've never been in one of these groups but. We've always got landed with Barca or PSG, Man City, Bayern Munich and then also usually we get hit with a team that looks a guaranteed second like Leipzig or Bayer Leverkusen, AC Milan even.

We are due the luck of the draw in this competition at some point.

Just looking at the coefficients for going forward though I know CL is changing next season and not looked at that yet.

To keep our current coeff points we need 6 points this year, so we get 4 for being in CL groups and need a win or 2 draws to get the 6. Hopefully achievable if we get a decent draw for the groups. Europe after christmas would give us a massive boost up the rankings.

For the association we need at least 6.75 points this year, tough ask since total points will be divided by 5 and Austria only 2 behind with 6.2 points to better this season.

We really need Aberdeen in Europa League as that will give a bonus 4 points then hopefully Hibs or Diets can make Conference league groups and pick up some points. Huns in Europa would be perfect as well, means they miss out on the money but should get a few results to boost the points compared to last season.

I know they've stopped the coming 3rd and dropping to the europa from next year. However, what about qaulifiers? It's certain we're heading the way of qaulifiers again. If we loose are we out? Or do you still get to drop down in thr qaulifiers?

If we strengthen our defence by signing a GK, LB and CH then we have a realistic chance of 3rd spot and, who knows, with a favourable draw and a bit of luck 2nd. Personally I would rather take 3rd spot as it would give us a decent chance for a good run in the Europa Cup and how wonderful would it be to get to a final in Dublin.
