I might just be looking too much into it, but that's a bit poor from him imo.

He's not a * ffs. Personally don't have any issue with what he said there, seems more like he's responding to a media question about his aloof style rather than purposefully making a snide mark against O'Riley. What O'Riley said was hardly bad either, all just a mountain out of a molehill.

I doubt Ange had even heard what O'Riley said, never mind responding to it..:56:

He gave his reasoning for it when he was there he didn't want to get to close with the players as it could cloud his judgement with selections I can get his reasoning as much as I can understand O'Rileys comments there is nothing in it at all

The parallels between Postecoglou and Rodgers are there: both excellent managers, both like to play high-energy, attacking football; but in most respects, they couldn't be more different.

I'd even go as far as to say that they are doing fundamentally different things. Rodgers talks like an extremely gifted teacher. You can see that developing players is something he finds intrinsically rewarding, that he thinks about them individually and that he values the relationships he builds with his players. He's passionate about it and you can see him come alive when he talks about it. As kind of a teacher myself (albeit a mediocre one), I recognise this in him and feel quite confident in what I've said.

My impression of Ange (which is more speculative) is that he has a vision in his head of how he wants his football to be played and achieving that is the only thing that matters. He is very capable when it comes to developing players; but it's a means to an end.

Different players will have different opinions about their management.

Ange comes across as a motivational speaker.

He said similar when he started with us about his approach.

    Two different coaches/personalities.

He was asked about it directly, this was his answer.

Surely a journalist wouldn't try to stir **** like that! :eek1:

Ange isn't exactly on our collective Christmas card list right now, but we have to admit he handled the question quite well.
Managers should only be asked about their ex-players in certain circumstances. Ange is at Spurs now and I imagine their fans could care less about what Matt O'Reilly thinks about him. Similarly, Rodgers never worked with Yoto and probably never will. Judging by the fact that he literally couldn't remember his name, I think we fans probably know more about Jota and the impact of his departure than Rodgers does. Why even ask him?

I know, I know, they're just doing their job; but that part of it just helps to maintain the negativity we're trying to fight.

Edit: yes, I can see the irony in writing a negative post about journalists spreading negativity.

So the journalist said 'What do you make of Matt O’Riley's comments on your style of management?' Or something similar?

Edit: I suppose he does address the comments when he talks about sitting down for lunch, but probably asked about style of management rather directly about O’Riley's comments..

    Anyway it's a non issue..

They have two different styles and Eddie seems to have some personal vendetta against him.

Anyway seems Levy is messing him about

Said it before but he'll flop there..

They're no a well run club and have an abundance of garbage on big wages, with a chairman who dictates too much. Plus a big support who think they should be further ahead than they are over the last few year..

He chose to go. No bitterness now but he's certainly destined to fail and get the bullet..

Must admit I'm getting that impression myself. He's jumped the gun a bit.

    Beds made though.

Spurs are winning * all, won't even make top 4, they will be on Ange's back in no time, i don't blame him for taking the gig, but don't think it will end well for him.

Think he was just desperate to get in to the EPL as soon as possible. Fair enough but if you don't choose wisely, you'll be out of it just as quick..

He loves a challenge and been successful everywhere rebuilding. Spurs are of a similar mould but a much much bigger challenge because of the the expectations, Kane (their darling) likely off and no even suited to his pressing from the front style. The abundance of pish they have. The dictator who doesn't like to splash bundles of cash. Even for someone like Ange, I think it'll prove too much a challenge..

Even their signings. The Italian keeper. Solomon off the back of Fulham last season and the loophole with Shakhtar. No exactly doing much for him..

They’ve had a host of elite managers who couldn't get them going. If they couldn't get the backing....Ange is on to a hiding..
