TEFL is dying in China too with the double reduction policy changes. The Chinese middle class aren't as infatuated with English or the west as they were a decade ago, especially since the European economy is so weak now. Gaokao teachers are seen as more desirable than waijiaos.

Teaching was never were the real money is anyway. A standard offer is somewhere like £4k a month but you can make 3-4 times more money in middle management or if you have tangible skillset and your own business. Even my Chinese wife takes home more than £50k annual (after tax). I made so much money my bank back home freaked out and closed my account because they thought I was money laundering.

I * love China, especially when I look at how people are struggling back home, but I wouldn't advise coming here as a TEFL teacher anymore. Still, people don't realize just how much money is floating in these places.

Money isn't everything, * all this talk that he couldn't turn down the offer.

He's signed up to be a figure head for one of the most oppressive regimes in the world. Blood money.

It's already started mate lol. Got guys like Gary Neville coming out and slagging the Saudis when he got exposed as a hypocrite on HIGNFY over Qatari money last year. They've no sense of irony whatsoever.

Really don't It was a charade. Think most players would find it difficult to turn down that kind of money, even EPL players are leaving their 100k p/w salary to go to Saudi.

In addition, this is the player trading model working to perfection. We got 2 good seasons out of him and a lot of money to reinvest in the squad. Win win for everyone.

I just hope that Celtic really squeeze every last penny out of the Saudi team for the transfer fee. Would be disappointed if it wasn't close to £30m. Not because I think Jota is worth that but simply because of the money they are throwing around.

If and when he goes then good luck to you, it will be heartbreaking to see one of the brightest stars leave to a football backwater in Saudi but it is perfectly understandable with the money being offered, the classic goal celebration of head bowed and arm raised with the clenched fist was very powerful and always brought a tear to my eye.
    Good luck Jota.

His clenched fist celebration is an absolute riddy now mate. Maybe he should read up on what that symbolic jesture means before taking the money from one of the most oppressive regimes in the world.

People say "ahhh sure the money, can't refuse that".. thats bollix. He would of definitely got a move to one of the big 5 leagues and made plenty of money, money that would last most people 5 or 10 lifetime's.

I don't usually mind players leaving us for the bigger leagues, it's progression for them, it's also our business model.. but taking Saudi money, he can go and take a flying * to himself and that clinched fist celebration should be eraised from history...

    Rant over...

Agreed. I know it's just a celebration but it's about as symbolic a gesture as they come. Felt right at home with us. Now going to that abomination of a regime just makes it embarrassing.

Genuinely lost all respect for him.

Seemingly another who's apparent "love" for us disappears at the flash of a paycheck.

Without a doubt a life changing amount of money, but * me this is heartbreaking. Thought we'd get another season out of him. Especially with another crack at the CL.

we've had better players than Jota come and go, and we will continue to see players come and go.
as long as Celtic get a good fee for putting him in the shop window then I'm happy for him.
he's not the 1st and he won't be the last.

When will people start to realise that Champions League means F all to players now. The EPL or Saudi money will always trump 25k p/w and getting pumped 6 games in the Champions League. It's just the world we live in.
