Yep. Strange if they're a couple that she'd leave..

She's one of the better players as well. There's quite a few examples of footballer couples where the women will follow their partners to either the same club or no too far away at another..

Maybe it'll be an English club and no too far..

Hopefully he doesn't move at all, but sure we'll handle it if he does.
Aye, I mind big Erik's (canny spell his surname) Mrs came to the woman's team when he was here and Douglas Luiz and Alisha Lehmann at Villa are an item or were before anyway.

Bit of a rebuild needed for the women’s team. First choice goalie, Flint and now Jacynta away. Huge losses.

I don't understand why there's such a big turnover of players from our womens' team, are they not quite successful and in the Champions League, etc? Is that just standard in the womens' game or is it just the same as the mens' teams and it's hard to keep good players here vs other options?

I meant her hopefully moving somewhere close..

I definitely don't want him going. We're light at the back as it is and already losing some key players..

A lack of money in the women’s game

Needs to be more investment from the club in the girls

Women’s football in general has a very high turnover in players due to the lack of real sustainable funding. Even down south it’s only now becoming “normal” to see players being given a 3 year deal.

Lots of players sign for one year.

I just assumed it must be one year deals cause of the amount of ins and outs each year since i started taking an interest.
How come so many don't stick around or sign new deals after a year though? Just money?

Money will be a big part, none of our players will be on big money. Even if they earned a grand a week (which I bet they don't) that isn't going to set you for life in a short career. Any WSL team will out pay us, same with Germany, USA, France or Spain.

Heard someone say that the women's team is set up to be self sustaining in terms of finances. Would've thought the club invested in it a bit.

Think investing would ruin the whole League and set up though.

Probably for as little as £2million a year Celtic could probably sign a lot of good players and all the best in Scotland and win with ease but there'd be no point in it as theres no fanbase or anything and it would just be money down the drain for the sake of it.

Think it's better they keep the money in womens football for training and youth coaching to develop better players for women to go on and have careers playing football, not just winning because the winning is pointless if it's just paid for because it's that cheap to dominate. Plus it would hold back the development of home grown players if you were just signing all the good players to win.

I remember them talking about how it actually cost money to play in the Champions League for the womens teams in Scotland, like the cost of travelling to games etc lost more money than you actually get for playing which I think was like £20k.

I agree with you. I wasn’t meaning buying the league, but I meant so the women could earn more than just expenses and travel to and from the games.
