My admiration for Ange ended just as quick as he left us. I'll look out for Spurs results and wish him well and thanks. But will not be sad should he be emptied after a few months also.

Ange was right, we never stop...and from tomorrow that certainly proves that. The book of Ange and Celtic has now closed.

To be honest, I held back a bit with Ange after falling for Rodgers hook, line and sinker. Because Rodgers taught me to really listen to what these people say, I noticed a few things he used to say that always seemed a bit off to me. Like when he would say how special it was for him to bring happiness to people with difficult lives with a victory. I know most people will probably not see it this way, but I always found that a bit weird. If your work has made 100,000 Celtic fans forget their troubles for a few days and simultaneously taken away that escape away from 100,000 Rangers fans, surely that balances out (unless you are a Celtic fan yourself, which he never claimed to be), right? What matters (I think) is the kind of football you play. We played some cracking stuff and that way of playing massively increased the amount of happiness we got without in any way increasing their unhappiness. That's where it ceases to be a zero sum thing. I genuinely think the late Tommy Burns really understood that.

And yet Ange always focussed on the victory itself, which makes perfect sense if you are motivated by your career but much less sense if you are motivated by bringing people a few hours of happiness in their difficult lives like he used to say.

So I have Brendan Rodgers to thank for teaching me to see these things. I'm sure I'd have fallen for Ange if Rodgers hadn't educated me.

One of my childhood memories is watching Scotland play someone (I forget who) as a child. At that time, I wasn't yet a Celtic fan; but Paul McStay was my absolute idol. I had his poster above my bed and everything. Anyway, one of the opposition players fouled one of the Scotland players and left him on the ground. I asked my stepfather (at the time) what had happened and he said that "their hardman" had put him there. "Wait till our hardman gets him!" (or something like that) was my response. My stepfather shook his head sadly and said, "That's Roy Aitken. That is our hardman."

At least that's how it was in my memory. :giggle1:

I think I can agree with how people are reacting purely based on interviews from both managers after they left Rodger spoke good five minutes about Celtic and how he knew the fans were hurting even went on to say how he’d hoped to come back one day

Ange didn’t even mention Celtic was like his time never existed

Nope, if he gets sacked at Spurs then he can go back home and go for a swim with some crocodiles.

I find this view quite strange. Even if Ange wasn't a Celtic fan, why would he give a * about ruining the day of Rangers fans?

He clearly cared about both entertaining football and winning, and increasing opposition fan unhappiness is just part of playing a competitive sport.

Personally I think if it goes well at Tottenham, he'd be looking for a step up to a Liverpool type club. If it goes badly, I could see him doing something like the Greek national team job.

If he continues on a successful path he could very well be a very good friend to Celtic. He might be influential in a lot of ways with his network of connections and it might lead to our participation in friendly competitions down under and elsewhere.

That wasn't really my point TBH, he sometimes just didn't make much sense to me; but it's not really important either. He's gone now and Rodgers is back. I'll probably watch the 3-minute edit of Spurs' games on SKY's YouTube channel to see how he's doing, but that's about the extent of my interest. I'd quite like him to do well there; but I'm more desperate for Ronny to make a success of it at Brugge.

Fair enough, he made sense to me.

I’ll maybe see the off MOTD or hear how Ange is doing through Spurs mates here but that’s about it for me. Hope he does well though as he’s a good guy.

Scenes when Spurs sack him in November, Rodgers flees Glasgow in the dead of the night to replace him and then we bring him home

YouTube thinks I might want to watch 67 Hail Hail's video on the story of the treble and I find I really don't. He's definitely taken the joy out of that for me (at least for now) and the sad thing is that he did it before the final match had even ended as it was pretty clear what was happening when he was hugging Jota.
