It doesn't seem likely. If he succeeds, he'll be looking at the absolute elite clubs for his next step. If he fails, it's hard to see us wanting him back over Brendan Rodgers. If he does OKish for a couple of years and leaves Spurs at the same time as Rodgers leaves us after also doing an OKish job and if Kennedy still isn't ready, then I guess there could be a slim chance. Doubt it, though.

This time a month ago I would have said there was pretty much no chance of Rodgers ending up at Celtic RR. He won't get a couple of years at Spurs unless he starts really well.

I'd have said there was no chance this time last week! :56:

Genuinely astonished at how much anger there is at Ange (a little bit of anger is justified for spending 2 years blowing smoke up our arses but not the level of anger I've seen) and how willing people seem to be to forgive if not forget with Rodgers.

We're all just dafties. It's time we learnt not to get emotionally attached to managers. For everyone in football outside of the fans everything is about fame and fortune. This grass is always greener. I'm not buying into the hype anymore. I loved BR then I loved AP. Thought more of the both of them than I should have. We need to realize they come to do a job and their next job is predicated on how well they're doing in the position they're in. It generally takes a couple of seasons as has been pointed out so I will be more surprised if any of them stick around longer than that. I will respect a good manager but I won't think of them in the way that I did.

It just shows how quickly things change in football and how fickle we are as fans.
I spent the whole of last week arguing that Rodgers wasn’t the right man but now I’m genuinely excited to see how he gets on.
It’s astonishing that Rodgers is a Celtic hero again and Ange is now despised :giggle1:

I think the similarities between Ange and Rodgers leaving have actually helped smooth things over with Rodgers quite a bit.

Selling the fans an idea while working your ticket isn’t a Rodgers thing, it can/is done by everyone under the right circumstances.

It also doesn’t invalidate everything Rodgers said without being a supporter.
You absolutely can be a supporter and still have professional ambitions that take you elsewhere.

In the cold light of day and removing all emotion from it Ange is doing what is best for Ange. He like BR will live and die by his decisions. I have come around to the idea of BR because I believe he is a top manager who will go on to prove his worth with us. A succession of trebles (even if we were allowed) wouldn't make much impact if he doesn't do it in Europe. If he takes us further in Europe that's where he's most likely to be judged.

The thing is, Jeannie, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. The more people believe that everyone is only out for themselves, the more you simply have to do the same or you'll be taken advantage of, which provides more evidence that people are only out for what they can get, which... The * have spent 40 years building that world and I think it has probably passed the tipping point now. Football is one of the remaining places in our society where loyalty is valued and cynicism is not just taken for granted. That's why I like that so many of us have been willing to give our affection to these people.

We have to stop doing that of course, out of self-protection, but we lose something in the process.

I can't get my head round it. I'm a bit annoyed with Ange for the bullshit; but on a professional level, he did everything correctly. I'm a lot less annoyed with him than with Rodgers, even after all these years!

I'm profoundly ambivalent about Rodgers' return. On the one hand, he had a very unprofessional final 2/3 of a season, culminating in him jumping ship in February, I won't be gutted if this falls through (although I doubt it will); on the other hand, he's a far better coach than we have any real right to expect in the current climate and a better appointment than I expected in all honesty. I feel it would be ridiculous for me to complain about that or even to feel unhappy about it.

So I kind of feel a bit empty.

Winning the EL next year would win me over.
Why not? I don't think 3rd in the CL groups is completely impossible and if the Huns can reach a final, why can't we?
Next year is possibly the last chance too.

Yes I really bought into BR and AP. They were heroes in my eyes. I truly felt betrayed and now I feel such a nit to have invested so much of myself in believing in them! This has made me a little introspective. I've spent a lifetime running towards people and situations instead of stepping back and I've become very cynical as a result. People more often than not want something from you and when they no longer get what they want they drop you like a stone. That's life in general now. Most folk really are out for themselves so you learn to guard your heart. Very rarely do you see true loyalty. Our Captain is an exception to the rule.

Sammy was a weird one. He was shocking at times, but he used to engage beast mode for the big games against the Huns or in Europe. I loved the big ****.
