If we were to appoint Rodgers, I think the league is 100% secured next year. Another major benefit is it pretty much confirms Lawell isn't involved anymore.

Recruitment would be a worry, but tbf he wanted both McGinn and Castagne and didn't get them, I think McGinn would still be at the club had we got him. As long as Congerton is nowhere near the club, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

Biggest worry for Rodgers is third season syndrome. He might be gone again by then tbf, but he does tend to massively fall off.

For me, I'd still prefer Knutsen and Iraola, but Rodgers would probably be third for the realistic choices.

If we get him in, secure UCL for another couple years if we get the titles that I'm confident we would under him. If he leaves again fair enough but personally I'm never going to get THAT invested in a manager ever again.

Postecoglou for me has hit a wee bit worse cos of the kind of character he is, I didn't expect him gone after 2 years. I think the type of job that's came up has sped that process up mind you.

With Rodgers it removes a lot of initial concerns over a new manager. He took us through two UCL qualifying campaigns, he's managed winning sides at Ibrox (albeit against worse Hun sides) and he knows the expectations here. Normally I hate that kind of narrative but with him it's different. He's a top class coach. It's not Lennon we are getting back cos he "knows the city".

I just feel that Ange leaving has rocked everyone a bit, perhaps even the board themselves IMO and Rodgers is the outstanding candidate to calm that rocking.

On recruitment, I think Rodgers working in tandem with Mark Lawwell with a guaranteed budget is quite an interesting project. His issue last time was trusting Congerton and Hammond. Hopefully he's learned.

Regardless I think our board have learned from their time with Ange. We have to believe so.

Still have a bad feeling it will be Maresca due to Lawwell and him only. Which would be a massive risk and one we don’t need.

give Rodgers a 3 year deal that way we say Commit for a 3 year project. Protects us after 2 if he feels he wants a change compensation gained for next gaffer.

If our managers do well there will be a 2 to 3 year shelf life before the riches of the EPL come calling.

If Rodgers does come back i honestly think he would put in the full Innings this Time. At first i was dead against him returning but not now, he has unfinished business here, especially on the European Stage:ynwacelti

Don't think E-Tims have ever gotten anything right. Both them and Celtic Underground are attention seeking fannies.

I find it hard to believe anyone thinks Maresca is on the same level as rodgers, bizarre to have him be in the running

I don’t think city group is a good enough continuity plan but sure that’s wild. Why are we relying on city group? I don’t mind a connection/relation but feels like they’re more involved than that.

If maresca is who we hire, it’s not for the right reasons. I’ll back and support him if he’s hired but he doesn’t get the job through merit in my opinion as he has no track record.

Rodger’s is a great coach, fantastic record here and down south and is a big name. I don’t like the idea of going back but if it was between them, at this moment in both their careers, I’d choose Rodgers every time.

I also don’t see how maresca out interviews other managers if we are interviewing day Rodgers, Knutsen, Iraola and maresca. They can talk about actual achievements, what they’ve done at clubs where as maresca failed at Parma and is peps assistant.

Again, not saying Maresca would be a bad coach or anything, just highlighting his lack of experience. We’re in a great position right now, we don’t need to take a punt on someone.

Think if Rodgers bides his time he’ll get an EPL job by Christmas. You’re always better when you ain’t in the team sort of thing. Makes me think he wouldn’t come here. Plus all the bad feeling from last time.

This is the minimum for next season. Winning the league as its again direct entry to the CL AND in the new format. More games, more exposure, more cash.

That would Bury the huns further. Them gives us more breathing space to put DoF and other structures in place.

Can’t see Maresca being at interviews in London in the last few days.

The notion that managers must first ply their trade in lower leagues, build a reputation, and slowly rise through the ranks on good repute is becoming outmoded.

Nowadays many, not all mind, are trained and mentored as coaches, and their reputations are built upon fellow professionals endorsements.

It used to be great ex players at big clubs went onto managing said clubs. Then, if they did well, they get bigger offers or more repute. Alex Ferguson, Kenny Dalglish et al.

Whilst instances of that are still prevalent, Zidane, Guardiola. The "modern manager" does most of his training through observation and application, not playing on the pitch beforehand.

I've actually no issue with Maresca bring an assistant, or is record at Parma, which, when examined, is perfectly understandable. My issue is there's better available, ie Knutsen, Iraola, who have been building and accumulating football knowledge as has Maresca, but also had more experience being the frontline soldier. Ie. The preasurre of being "the man".

Man City I'm sure is a hotbed of scrutiny. Even for an assistant. And Parma wouldve taught him alot.

But Celtic? Boy better have the patience of a saint

Think Rodgers would be looking at us thinking we're a much stronger team than the one he inherited and the one he left. We are financially stronger than his first stint here and, for this season,.we don't have to go through the qualifiers for the CL.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if he ends up back here if it is indeed the case that Desmond wants him.

I'll just wait and see who it is before worrying or getting wound up..

Confident we'll make a good appointment and it won't just be because it's a cheap option. There is zero reason logic in that..

It's a weird one for me. As much as I think Rodgers would be a success - although not a guarantee like some think - I struggle with the idea of having him back, especially after Ange.

I rate Ange more highly as a coach and a person and I think that knowledge, as well as what happened in the past with Rodgers, makes me want us to look elsewhere.

If we appoint him again, I'll get back behind him I'm sure, he's a good coach. I just dont believe a word the guy says.
