This. Whilst I think Ange was a bit sneaky in his departure I hope he does well. Likeable big * and obviously a good manager.

Personally I think he will win Spurs the Europa within 3 years.

I know there has been alleged speculation for whatever reason he's looking at the Liverpool role but if nothing else other than being lazy with links.... I reckon if he smashes it with Spurs in the next three years. Man City will take him on.

Wouldn't be surprised that 3 years from now Pep wants to take a break from the game after sweeping everything up with City and then it allows Ange to go in given his links to City Football Group

Hearing levy at it already had a meeting with kane without telling Ang and Ang not happy with the situation as he's on holiday and wanted to speak to the player himself according to the spurs podcasts .

Ange was desperate for the job. He's not stupid he must have known what Levy was like

Not only would it be amazing for him, but it'd shut up a lot of the insufferable 'farmer's league' brigade, at least temporarily.

Aye it's that much of a farmer's league that the English teams have been stealing our best players away on the cheap for years.

I cant say about when they/he informed us officially but I/we all know, i assume anyway, he was heavily involved in the planning for next season as recently as just over a week ago with the board.. So he was doing that while aware of the discussions with spurs and wanting to go.
While I think we all know tapping up goes on in football, that's not the issue I have really, what annoys me is all the times Ange has talked about the values/traits he looks for in players, type of character etc, yet he seems to have not applied them to himself, despite consistently talking about the importance of them.

Think it could go either way for him. His tactics will be tested, and crucially his ability to maintain player buy-in will be severely tested if things don't start well. Giving him a 4-year deal (which they haven't done since Poch) suggests that the idea is to stick with him as he builds something over the medium-long term, but that could all change if 10 games in they're languishing near the relegation places and pressure builds on Levy to make a change.

He is an excellent manager though and the job does seem to play to all his strengths. Club coming off a disappointing season. A big rebuild required. A bad culture around the club which needs improving. A fanbase who are crying out for attacking football. Won't have an insane budget, so his ability to spot and improve players will come into play.

However it pans out, it's a massive opportunity for someone who could barely even get a job interview a few years ago.

Do you actually hear it or listen to two guys on a podcast talking about it.

Also Ange has gone away on holiday

I’d say more anges fault for booking the holiday we all know he booked it at that time to escape all the media when he done the jump spurs job is one where he should have been at it from the got go

I want him to do well but don’t feel for him in this instance because it’s a making of his own doing

Would not be surprised if this is true. Either way this kind of interference from Levy is why I was surprised Ange took the job. As long as Levy is in charge there that job is a dumpster fire.

If he plays the way we do in the league and tries to overwhelm teams then I'd give him maybe a 1 in 3 win rate.

The other thing to mention is that it was a previous tactic of Anges at Brisbane to tell everyone at the outset that he was on a 3-4 year contract.

In reality there was an agreement to terminate without a full contract payout. The idea was to convince players and supporters that Ange was tied down long term to facilitate buy in for a rebuild.

I suspect the same has happened at Tottenham. He might have a four year deal but won't be paid out four years if he gets sacked early.

I suspect expectations will be very high and short term results will dictate his longevity at that club. He might have bitten off more than he can chew this time.

I don't think most managers get full pay outs if sacked. Clubs will protect themselves to an extent, they always will. There will be things in there like European qualification, points per game, win percentage etc stopping full pay offs or such large ones if not achieved.
