Ange then gained experience all over the world, picking up silverware and came back to Europe after 13 years.

Maresca isn't an inspirational appointment imo

I think Marsch and Moyes were guesses from McGowan. Maresca seriously gives me fear. He will be a disaster imo

There was an element of risk to Ange based on him managing mostly on the other side of the world and never at a club of this size, but it was hugely exaggerated and based on misconceptions. This was a guy with 25 years experience of managing at both domestic and International level, who had proven that his methods work everywhere he'd been.

Sometime like Maresca is a much different appointment, and whilst there are upsides, there's also the potential for it to go spectacularly wrong. One short stint in management is a far cry from building up 25 years worth of experience where you have pretty much seen everything there is to see.

Knutsen would be my number one choice. Followed by Potter, although I doubt that's realistic. Then maybe Muscat as a left field choice and Rodgers as the 'oh, * go on then' selection. Maresca and Moyes would come after that bunch. Marsch after them.

Did he though? He took over an absolutely free falling Parma side who’d just been relegated and lost players. He wasn’t really given enough time to implement his style and it’s not like they suddenly improved when he left.

The challenge here is completely different and his experience at City (in a must win environment) will have done him the world of good. People questioned Arteta’s ability to step out from Guardiola’s shadow and look how he’s done. Frankly, Pep saying someone he knows first hand will be a great manager has more basis than anyone on here (myself included) who never actually consistently watched Maresca’s Parma side.

There are six names currently under consideration, not four.

The maresca chat is embarrassing tbh a club like us shouldn’t be appointing a manager with no experience. Don’t give an f if he’s in the city group and peps assistant if that’s level we appoint we really should just chuck it.

The pressure cooker environment up here is different to anything he would ever have experienced I’m shocked how anyone could want him to be our gaffer we need a gaffer with a bit of experience no some no name city assistant

Whats the point of having 6 when it's obviously Maresca they are going for. It'll end in disaster and we will back to a situation again like 2021

Lawwell Jr rates him very highly, but the final decision will be Desmond’s.

Preliminary list of names, I assume? Or has it been narrowed down from a larger list?

    Maresca is not ready, IMO.

Yes. The usual initial enquiries out to agents to gauge interest. In one case we’ve contacted a club “officially” out of respect.
