    I'd like him to stay..

If he goes with Strachan then we almost lose what's been 2 years of building an identity that's worked and everyone's enjoyed..

We could still make a young, progressive appointment but having Kennedy in....would make it an easy transition for the new guy. He's been right there amongst it the whole time and will know our methods inside out, as well as seemingly being well liked and respected amongst the squad..

That isn't to say he shouldn't bring anyone in....but we'd still have that familiarity day to day at training etc and someone for the new coach to lean on..

It was massively helpful for Ange when he came to us..

Insisting on Kennedy lost us a class manager in Eddie Howe. Whilst that worked out alright, an established manager will want to at very least bring an assistant manager in. If he goes with Ange, so much the better.

I rate him, and think you are right on what you say but do wonder if he might go, just on the basis that if a new manager comes in who doesn't want him he's gone anyway.

I think he likely will go..

The fact he's trying to get him and Strachan and it's in the media, probably means they already spoke about it whilst he was still here..

Time for him to move on and the new manager should have every right to pick his own staff.

Could also see a possibility of him getting the gig to stop ange poaching him and Strachan , not the big appointment but stability, who knows.

Is there any actual evidence for that? It's not what Howe or Celtic said.

I really hope that's true! Any direct quotes or is it "the Record understands"?

My understanding was Howe couldn't persuade his backroom staff to make the move was the actual issue.

Ah, it's easy done, don't worry. That's disappointing then.

The first paragraph is what I'm talking about, Lennon was the manager not Kennedy and the vast majority in here gave him no credit whatsoever when things were going well.

He was also manager for 10 games and done nothing different. Continued on in the same manner.

    He's maybe a great coach.
Like players, perhaps under Lennon everything was just * * and Lennon was a dinosaur who couldn't actually motivate a modern footballer or take an interest in developing them. Which is a bit silly to be like considering the type of club we want to be.

So I'll give him his dues, as a coach he's been highly talked about by multiple managers.

However, he also had his chance to put a stamp on things in his own time, when the season was a dead rubber, he failed.

Some folk just aren't good managers. Some are great coaches.

That's the evidence so far for Kennedy.

Don't disagree with any of that except his interim time in charge, as it was the worst possible conditions, I think it is harsh to hold that over him. Doesn't mean he will necessarily make a good manager though, as you say he may just be a good coach

I can accept to some it seems harsh.

More I'm disappointed he didn't do anything majorly different. Bar one game he tried doing something different with the wingers, he in large played the same way with the lack of motivation from him or the players at all.

I'd have no faith in him to manage a side through a bad spell.

Although I appreciate some will give him a better chance than me.
I'd rather see him try his management abilities elsewhere and can always come back to us if he proves good enough. Same goes for Brown.

We aren't a training ground for no experience, we need managers who've got something, but need a place to develop further and prove their worth in the big stage (UCL)

Coaching and managing are 2 different skill sets, maybe Kennedy will turn out a good manager, I don't think he should get his break here, he had the chance to set something after Lennon was sacked, but he just played the same poor football Lennon had that year, no big changes, no increase in effort. He does need to go elsewhere and learn football away from Celtic to better himself.

Similar for good coach bad manager, Ian Cathro, by all accounts a good coach, has been successful alongside Nuno Espirito Sanchez and after his disaster season at hearts he's gone back to be his assistant again.

He wont be getting the job here but I hope he uses this chance to go and test himself as manager, he’s learned from 2 top managers and was highly regarded by both.

Lower league in England or Championship up here has some good opportunities for him to ply his trade.

If he wants to stay on as assistant I’d be more than happy, would keep some continuity as he plans & takes all the training stuff.
