I think Ange was surprised by the chance and probably did see himself here a good while. He's 57 and was treated with a bit snobbery from us so would likely not imagine stars aligning in such a way that a relatively big team in the EPL would give him a shout.

I can relate totally to this , and the the overriding fact that springs to mind is his first presser and the fan media guy saying "they are not your friends " and something like being honest and open with us after Rodgers....tbh I felt he played that part like a very good actor ,had me believing his every word , we as fans can never understand someone as close to our club not loving celtic like we do and choosing to move on so quickly while holding everything in the palm of his hand like that ,so for me showing that anger is normal for breaking your heart and fooling you at the same time .

 

Yeah but he wasn't saying nothing to keep squad harmony he was saying nothing because he didn't want the suits upstairs knowing he had been approached by representatives from Spurs and been discussing a potential move on the sly. It's clear they knew very late on as well and I mean in the last couple of days. Why would he not want them knowing? Any of the potential answers to that question do not reflect very well on Ange, whatever way you look at it. He knew he was going to drop this bomb and had prob been sitting on it for weeks, no doubt stringing staff along with transfer targets, pre season schedules etc. That's why Desmond/Lawell looked so utterly * off on Sat.

 

With how quickly things have moved today, I think it’s fair to assume he definitely knew of the interest from Spurs and obviously knew he was going to pursue it further. However, I totally understand him completely dodging the question last week. If he says last week there has been contact, and the unthinkable happens and we lose on Saturday, instantly we would have all said it was because he wasn’t totally focused on the game. Which I don’t think was the case in all honesty.
