I was wondering were you think Celtic fit in the grand scheme of things?

That's pretty much my thinking as well. If we had the base money pool leagues in that top tier did, we'd be right there with them.

 

I voted 3rd tier.

ATM this is the level we're at.In the last couple of years we have punched above our weight in the CL.Our squad is not a reflection of being one of the best 16 teams in Europe.I'd be thrilled to make the Last 16 again this year because that means we've overachieved again.It's all down to money at the end of the day though.Give us 30m pounds T.V money every season and we'd shoot up the list.

We're in Pot 3 in the CL draw as well and I think that is fairly accurate in terms of the strength of teams in Europe.

 

Im voting a bit optimistically at second tier! from the teams youve mentioned id fancy my chances against athem in the CL

 

i dont really see how everton is in the same category as villareal and gallatassary they are a very up and down club

 

i agree with that... i the same way you know a celtic europeans cup title would be amuch bigger celebration and triumph than it would be for one of the "elite" clubs... something like how a scottish title would be ahuge triumph for a club like hibs or aberdeen

Clearly as a club we are in the elite level of world clubs. But obviously we cannot match most of the other elite clubs financially due to our small tv revenues.

 

i believe that if we had the finances that even the shittier teams in the premiership have, there would be more than 1 gold star on our top and we would no doubt rival teams in the top tier. celtic are simply punished by sky tv for playing in an inferior league . look at what we can achieve with next to no-money to spend. imagine what we coul do in europe if we could spend the likes of 15-20 million on a striker.

i think that celtic are sitting in the 2nd tier at the moment

 

i would say the second tier cl tbf and thats an awsome acheivement when you look at the other clubs in there who spend gazzillions of pounds on players, on our day though we can even compete against the very best.

 

I dont see an arguement on this at all ,why the last 2 seasons we have made to the last 16, which to me is 2nd tier .

 

agreed. also we must be the super elite with are european history till the present day with are finances we must be well above all other clubs

 

In terms of European ability we are in the 3rd tier. But the size of our club, fans, reputation and history bumps us up to 2nd teir. Though not far off top tier.

 

celtic is a big name around the continent,has a lot to do with the shirt and the fans.. it's just not a great team sadly.. never won a game away from cp in the cl..

 

Ajax is a big name, although we havn't performed well in europe since the 2003 season in europe.. but still have won the cl 4 times... that counts even the team was not performing.. we'll be back now with van basten as anager..

 

Realistically 3rd tier. We can't even attract mediocre players at the moment so I'll not be having any delusions of grandeur thanks. It would be carte blanche to suggest we are anything other than Scotland's biggest club.

Take a look at the other 3rd tier clubs up there ^ Seville for instance, their squad is worth over 100 million pounds.

 

On our day we can beat anybody, but in general it has to be the 2nd tier
