Celtic are planning to make Ange Postecoglou the best-paid manager in their history to stop him quitting the club this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Hoops are well aware of strong interest in the Australian, 57, from clubs south of the border.

Football Insider revealed on Thursday (25 May) that Tottenham have made Postecoglou a contender for their vacancy after talks with Feyenoord’s Arne Slot collapsed.



It is believed Wolves are also keen on him amid doubts Julen Lopetegui will stay at the club for the 2023-24 season.




Postecoglou is on a rolling 12-month contract at Celtic that heavily incentivises the team’s success.

But a well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Glasgow giants are ready to offer their manager a new and improved deal that would trump even the deal given to Brendan Rodgers during his time at Parkhead.


Postecoglou has wrapped up back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles with Celtic and is one win away from securing a famous domestic treble.

IMO, Ange needs only two things to have a shot at surviving in Europe till next year, and he's already secured one of them. A dedicated midfield destroyer and a switch to a mid block when defending. Really want to see him lead us in Europe again. For comparison, at Tottenham they need a completely new back line (GK included), bar maybe Davies, who's an OK rotation player.
