Would like to see him loaned out as well, to see if he can improve with regular football. Maybe in a more defensive minded team.

Think we'll try and recoup something for him just now though.

So you want to just have bang average players hang around the club despite not being good enough or reliable because they just so happen to be Scottish?

You don't think it's against the law?

If any other work place was to turn better qualified foreigners away bcoz they needed to meet a certain qouta on Scottish employees there would certainly be legal action taken

Antwerp recently took Uefa to court over it claiming it was "indirectly descriminating against people based on nationality"

I remember watching us at home to Bodo. They had 3 huge centre backs that could really play football from the back. At the time I thought we could do with at least one of them. In my opinion we need more physical presence for the European stage.

Definitely!! we must be 1 of the smallest teams in the league and the physical stature and physique of players in champions league is massive jump never mind the ability.
It's OK wanting talented technical players who can play football but you need to be strong enough physically to actually get the ball in the 1st place.

Decent players on the ball and knew their roles down to a tee but they weren't huge, both their centre backs were 6ft tops. Hoibraten is currently in the J League and doing well though tbf...

Big, strong, physical, left footed Centre back that was good on the ball and had decent experience in europe. Went for £1m.

Type of deal we should of been all over. Have had so much success with signing scandanavian players it's strange it's a market we've pretty much ignored for the past 5 or 6 years

Wembangomo I’m sure was the one on the left of the three. It was his first game for them if I remember right as well, and he was outstanding.

It's about having numbers to cover injuries you moron. 17 players won't cover that. Foreign players won't hang around if they are just hired to play domestic football, unless they are mediocre. I don't think you need to fill the full quota but I think you need at least 23 players.

It isn't discriminating against nationality, it's based on where they brought players through aged 15-21. Our youth system has people from various countries. It makes sure teams carry on investing in their youth.
Royal Antwerp were more bothered about clubs like Brugge buying their players and counting towards their home grown quota. It made it difficult to keep hold of their best youths when them or Anderlecht would just offer more money. It's true the system is flawed because it benefits wealthy clubs.

I doubt we will get any concrete rumours until after the Cup Final. They won't want to unsettle the players.

It's a valid complaint, we are at risk of not being able to meet it as brexit has reduced our ability to recruit youth and more importantly reduced English teams who now snap up anything in the UK as it's all the can target. 3 years at the club at those ages for the top talent is becoming rarer as they'll get 10x the pay at an English team, then if they're no up to an epl side either come back to Scottish football or play EFL football at which point they're English Homegrown not Scottish and can never be Scottish Homegrown talent.

I get the principle of it, but it leaves us in a bad position due to brexit and the special rulings around the UK FA's

Turnbull, Siegrist and Welsh have been told they can find moves, so likely gone.

There’s been strong interest shown in Abada, Maeda, O’Riley and Hatate, but nothing concrete as yet. Believe main interest in Maeda was from two clubs who look like being relegated, so that’s likely dwindled as has the interest in O’Riley a bit. Abada and Hatate are our most likely “stars” to go and there’s significant interest in both from down south and abroad.

There was significant interest in CCV too, but expect that to go quiet until he’s back on the pitch.

Talks planned with Kyogo’s agent regarding a new deal, though against the backdrop of interest from down south and apparently Germany too. That was last week though, so no idea if a deal was knocked back before then or after those talks.

Expect a lot of our business done early again and from familiar markets. Our first signing of the summer will almost certainly be a CM. GK, CB, LB, CM x 2 (different profiles), RW, ST have been scouting focuses.
