One of the most exciting things about that as a trio is that they could all play any of the 3 positions in midfield. They'll be able to just rotate mid game and opposition midfielders will be getting dragged all over the place.

And they're all pure class.

 

Another shrewd piece of business from Ange. The guy is class and he can take a ball in when under pressure and distribute it accurately.

Very much like Hatate in that respect and both players are great in tight situations.

When he gets a few more games he’ll add goals to the team too.

I’m very impressed by him. He’ll do us a brilliant turn in the C L.

He is what we wanted Ideguchi to be isn't he! Looks like those who said he is the best out the Japanese players to come here outwith kyogo could be correct. £800k WOW!

 

Need to try and find a clip of that pass when he received the ball off Hart at the edge of the box.

Believe this as well. Think he should score a fair few from open play for us, but I’d love to see him as a late runner at corners, etc. He looks a handful physically, and if the likes of Oh or CCV are taking the attention of the opposition’s better defenders, I think Iwata would be a good option to hare into space and stick one away.

He's going to be up there with other famous Tommys like Boyd, Rogic and Andreas

 

Hopefully makes similar/better impact in Europe the way Wanyama did!

 

I mind noticing that about him first time I seen him warming up in front of me, shoulders and arms make Ralston look like a wee lassie.

 

Who said that? I heard Si Ferry say that someone at Celtic said at the recent charity match against Liverpool that Iwata was the best of the Japanese players and that was before his wee recent run in the team. Exciting stuff.

 

Think it came directly from O'Dea to him at that game but I'd rather stick needles in my eyes than listen to that * Ferry..

 

Tomoki still has another gear to go up imo. He's showing what style of player he is but he'll get more fluid on the ball and aggressive the more he plays and adapts to this team.

 

It's frightening to think how good our midfield could be with Calmac Hatate and Iwata all on form and interchanging hanging back, going forward, collecting the ball out wide etc. I think it's gonna be a joy to behold.

 

I think at this point in time if everyone was fit I'd have Hatate, Cal and Iwata in the middle. Turnbull and O Riley both offer something different and are quality back up, but that's the first three for me.

 

Don't think its been talked about enough but watched the Hun game again and Iwata completely changed that game when he came on. Rangers were all over us like a rash for the first ten minutes of that 2nd half. Literally the second he comes on we take control and go 3-1 up. He needs to be a starter going forward his positional sense is brilliant.

 

I think Turnbull will leave in the summer anyway. Only has another year left on his contract and there's been zero noise about him signing a new one.
