To add to the earlier comments…

KT is obviously an upgrade on Greg, but, I wouldn’t want him back now. Arteta plays inverted fullbacks as well and he can’t get a look in ahead of Zinchenko.

GT has took to his role in the team like a duck to water, and is by far and away the most improved out of the squad that was here before Ange arrived.

Zinchenko is probably the best inverted full back in the world, unless you count Kimmich

I thought we got £25m because we didn't ask for loads add ons, if we had taken £20m we probably would have some form of add on like that.

Aye I know mate but coming in field was never KT’s strong point anyway. His bombing runs and overlapping were his main strengths and still seem to be.

I was more meaning no shame to not get in ahead of Zinchenko in that role. Look we are never getting him we can’t afford him but he’d excel in that role for us as well, he’s excellent bringing the ball out at CB. He just wouldn’t be as good in the middle as high up the pitch with his back to goal that Taylor is, everything else he’d be better in.

    And I love Taylor.

Aye I agree, no shame in it at all.

KT certainly has a great all round game that I don’t think he’d struggle, he’s just far more suited to the traditional full back role. Not many better at bombing down the left and playing off then overlapping.

I’m not sure it would be necessary but I reckon we would rotate. Tierney has been unfortunate with injuries though yeah

KT to Newcastle would be an unreal move for all involved, doesn’t suit arsenal now

Aston Villa have joined Newcastle United in the race for Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney, sources have told Football Insider.

The 25-year-old’s future is up in the air going into the summer and the north Londoners could sell him to raise funds for new signings.

Football Insider revealed last month (February 19) that Tierney is being monitored by Newcastle as they assess the market for a new left-back this summer who can slot straight into their starting XI.

Villa are also interested in Tierney despite signing a new left-back in January, when Alex Moreno arrived from Real Betis in a £12million deal.

Moreno has been sharing left-back duties with Lucas Digne since his arrival and already has three Premier League starts to his name, including in last weekend’s win over Crystal Palace.

Villa could be willing to sell Digne in the summer as Unai Emery continues his overhaul of the playing squad.

That would free up space for a new left-sided defender, with Tierney on the radar as he struggles for game time at league leaders Arsenal.

With the Gunners planning to spend big on a new midfielder in the summer, with Declan Rice a top target, there will need to be sales to balance the books.

One player who could raise a significant fee is Tierney, who has been squeezed out by the excellent form of 2022 signing Aleksandr Zinchenko.

Tierney, 25, has started only four Premier League matches among his 26 appearances in all competitions this season, many of them as a substitute.

The former Celtic star, who is valued around the £30million mark, is firmly on Newcastle’s radar, while the club also have an interest in Fulham’s Antonee Robinson, with Man City also keen on him.

What's the script with the sell on fee? I was under the impression it was 15% of any future fee (so if £30m) then that would be around £4.5m? Yet seen a few huns online saying it's 15% of future profit and not the actual fee? That wouldn't make any sense as its pennies.

I don't think anyone ever really knows to be honest. I would assume since we received a record fee for Tierney we probably didn't throw in huge extras like a 15% sell on fee.

Also, I wouldn't say 15% of future profit is necessarily pennies. At one point, Tierney looked like he could be Arsenal's captain and if he stayed injury free might've moved on for £50m-£60. That would've put the profit at £25m - £30m, 15% of which would be ~£4.5m.

From that point of view, 15% of a future fee (instead of profit) would've been as much as £9m, which given Arsenal paid £25m for Tierney, who was injured at the time, seems quite large.

So although we can never know the detailed structure of the deal, I would imagine if there's any % of a future fee it would be on profit as a small extra to us if Tierney made Arsenal a lot of money.

Fair enough. Not that big a deal was just curious. Daily record have it as 15% of the actual fee so ftheyre clearly talking *.
