Cracking attitude, bit mad that he basically admitted to not thinking he needed to watch football or study other players until now :giggle1: in a way that explains his strange, instinctive style.

You can see huge progression in him this season though. During pre-season I predicted he would become the player this season who was totally undroppable from the team. Still think it's going that way.

No wonder all he could do was close people down and his passing, crossing etc was brutal!! That’s unbelievable from a pro footballer!!! Well we should continue to see massive improvement in him now he has realised he can’t just run fast and be not very good with the ball at his feet.
I think his admission more or less sums up how many have viewed him, fast as * but clueless with the ball.

Its more unbelievable that no other coaches at the club told him to use his pace or dribble players until Kewell arrived.

He's definitely improved don't think anyone will argue with that but surprisingly he has 1 assist since August. So as much as he is improving he actually has to start backing it up with the stats too particularly given the quality of players he's playing left wing ahead of

There are stats behind goals and assists, how many times has be been the pass before the assist because of the position he has put things in or ots had a touch from a defender that sclaffed it to one of ours, those don't translate to shiny goals or assists but are crucial

He should have more assists but that's not always down to him, as much as he can put a wild cross into the stands, how many near perfect balls has he fizzed across the 6 yard box with nobody getting on the end of it, like that ridiculous tap in Jota missed last week, even considering how high our goal difference is we're still missing a stupid amount of good chances in front of goal this season.

Stats for him this season are:

    8 goals
    5 assists
    33 appearances
    1767 minutes

Averaging goal/assist every 135 minutes, 1 every game and a half.

Every 110 minutes if you include domestic only.

I prefer him in the starting 11 to Abada.. he offers more.
Abada still needing to find that next step up in level and overall consistency for me.

I will hear no bad words or even slight criticism against my Maeda.

I will curse anyone who dares to speak ill of my King.

There were no kings in Japan... only Daimyo 大名...who were... basically Kings of their prefectures (areas) so..Kings lol

Daimyou were powerful Japanese feudal lords who, from the 10th century to the early Meiji period (1868) ruled most of Japan from their vast, hereditary land holdings.

A Daimyou ruled each area of this map up until the Meji restoration (when modern Japan was born) Each area had it's own history and culture from the 10th century right up until 1868 = fascinating history.

Tune in next week for more random Japanese knowledge from a south Londoner now living in Inverness.

The most Maeda goal ever was that one last week when it went in off his face.

The second most Maeda goal ever would have been his mishit cross in the first half that almost lobbed the keeper :giggle1:

    * is an absolute machine.

I’ll always have reservations over his technique, but then again if that was top quality then he’d be playing for Real Madrid.

I appreciate what he offers us, his willingness to press is surely amongst the best in the world in his position.
